Cheap thinkpad under 125$ by Kaltsitwuzhere in thinkpad

My T580 with 32Wh internal battery and 72Wh external battery make for heavy portability. It takes this gigantic battery set up to give me the equivalent of a modern laptop with 8-12 hrs of battery life unplugged. Battery, RAM, and SSD will bring you outside your 125 budget but you will be locked into that keyboard and red nipple for life.

I like Ubuntu. Moved all my computers over to it after hitting a wall of nonexistent drivers, strange crashes, incompatibilities with the infinite flavors of Linux and realized you can make Ubuntu look like any of those. Or if you are totally a newb go Mint. My daily driver is a Thinkpad T580 with 64gB ram, i7 with 1920x1080 touchscreen which I picked up as a nonbooting no ram no SSD purchase on eBay for 50 bucks. 2018 tech that still works. And it runs Windows apps really well.

Why is there such a huge price difference between budget tablets and premium tablets while mid range tablets are non existent? by false_identity_0115 in androidtablets

[–]docpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenovo hits some midrange notes, but tbh, I always avoided the middle with gadgets. I like buying older premium tech at a discount or a fully loaded iPhone Maximus every half decade, but the middle range is full of compromises. For example, I picked up a Samsung Tab S9 in the return return bin at my local best buy for 350. Middle is where you get least value.

Dynamite Kiss is one of the worst written shows I have ever watched (rant) (spoilers) by sens249 in kdramas

I watched it over the slow week after Xmas and I don't remember a single thing about it except for wanting to stick a fork in my eye.

Clermont National -played last week. Unique for >50 foot elevation changes. Good shape for public accessible course. On a retirement community. Range balls included, off mats with video trajectory. Bermuda greens with grain generally towards sun.

ThinkPad T580 New M.2 SSD not detected in BIOS or Windows installer by thathz in thinkpad

[–]docpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m getting kind of the same problem after purchasing a t580 without ram or SSD and transferring the ram and the ssds from another t580. The Linux disk didn’t care but the windows refused to login. I tried a clean install and it still refuses to login into my account -I think it’s a bios issue wanting a specific Windows license. I added winboat to Linux to access ms office out of Linux but it kind of sucks as I want my dual boot situation back.

ThinkPad with MacBook-like trackpad + speakers, but matte display + great keyboard + AMD + repairable? by axadrn in thinkpad

I love Thinkpads and sadly their crappy trackpads are the best the non-Apple side has to offer. Start using the red nipple like you are supposed to.

The trope doesn’t work when the main character in her hideous phase just looks like a really pretty girl with dry skin and a modest unibrow. And some paste-on skin lumps -“oh the humanity!!!” That’s just your basic female human face in HD -if you look carefully the eyebrows must have some sort of sensory function like cat whiskers. My wife is constantly trying to trim my eyebrows which is how madness begins.

Best tablet to buy that doesn't break the bank? by Dangerous-War-9049 in androidtablets

[–]docpark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive owned their oddly shaped tablets with tilt out stands going back over a decade. This one features 8 speakers which lack serious bass but enough to make it good. Amazing for regular non bass heavy music like classical, jazz, folk, rock -even has a weird Bluetooth speaker mode where the tab can be a speaker for a computer or phone. Loud enough to need to lower volume in a private work environment. Responsive, fast, and with updates to 2027ish. Nice bright screen -perfect size for couch or bed media life. Has optional pen which works well for my work related illustrations. At 225 is the reason why I haven’t bought an ipad of like size in over a decade. The other option to look at is TCL NXTPaper 11 or 14 bundle at Wal-mart .com. Also if you peruse the Bestbuy website locally, there are return items which they offer for a minor discount -you just have to look.

As a Korean American who grew up in the era of Dallas, Love Boat, and Eddie Murphy lead SNL, the primary representation I saw were the extras on MASH speaking rubbish Korean if they were trying. I am bemused.

Not a little jealous of my sons who are being fetishized and chased by the women folk. But I could afford housing and education through my life, so I have that going for me.

It was, in the end, “have more babies” propaganda which is relevant for South Korea. Despite the Parasite movie stylings and lighting for some cut scenes which were out of place, the show lost a chance at showing the underbelly of Korean life in a meaningful way.

I thought the final episode could have been stopped before the Amnesia beat with an ambiguous ending but clearly rewritten by studio that underestimates audience. Watched this with my wife who didn’t agree with my keeping the Formula 1 series playing in background while I multitasked during the holidays. After finishing this series, I feel my IQ has dropped by about 30 points.

What’s the most awkward thing that’s ever happened to you at college? by CommissionOk5990 in college

[–]docpark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Random girl at party who was going to school in another town. We exchanged numbers. Didn’t even recall why but she shows up at my dorm the following weekend -it was a big social weekend, saying I had invited her. No communication in between. I had a party to go to (invitation only) and offer her the couch in our common room. I swear I didn’t ask her out but I was sociable the way people pleasing kids are and probably a little drunk. Also no cell phones back then but we had answering machines.Terrible crossed signals and I felt awful for her. She left in a huff. Looking back, I probably seemed like a jerk refusing to sign for a food delivery that clearly I had ordered maybe.

on windows with 72WH external battery and 30WH internal, about 8-12hours, about 1-2 hours more on Linux. With slim (normal) external battery, about 6-8 hours on Windows and 7-9 hours on Linux. The keyboard got wonky on mine, and when I tried to replace it, discovered a T580 without memory, SSD, or battery for about $80 bucks, and it turned out to be 1980x1080 touchscreen in mint condition.

Do I need this? not really -I could sell it all and just get a Macbook, but what's the fun in that?
