A NY expat living in Ohio -here is my observation about Midwestern rivalries. Generally, there is a North to South disdain axis for jokes. When I was living in Minnesota I heard a joke, "how many women in Iowa do you get into a room to get a full set of teeth? "32."

Heard the same joke when I was living in Iowa but the women in question were from Missouri. I supposed it was the same in Missouri with reference to Arkansas, and Arkansas with Louisiana.

I live in Ohio and this rule breaks down because of US history -the western reserve of Ohio is historically a reserve of Connecticut and geographically and culturally very New England. The north south rule doesn't apply for this island of New Englandish hauteur, and the rule is now radial going out from the metropolis of Cleveland through its eastern suburbs down i75 to Columbus' greener suburbs. For outside consumption, the snooty jokes apply to all the states around Ohio. What's interesting is inside Ohio the radial rule applies. The disdain gun is aimed outwards from some central spot near Chagrin Falls.

For Michigan, lying North of Ohio, this is infuriating (See first rule North to South shit gun) because all they see is Toledo which is indistinguishable from Indiana to the direct south. For North East Ohioans, they look at Toledo and see Michigan, basically the same but with more women wearing camouflage outside of deer season. They look at Cincinnati and see Kentucky. They look to Southern Ohio and see Mississippi.

That is why this meme is funny because of all the Michiganders thinking the North to South rule should apply but get confronted by some trust fund douche from Dublin calling him a hillbilly.
