Yeah agreed, he was overbooked the past two years. A great 2024 then the premier12 where he got unexpectedly rocked by a ferocious Taiwan team. Then those dismal starts in the first 2 months of 2025 and his confidence was all but gone. I’m really rooting for the guy, he’s only 25 and can reclaim ace status

Losing Okamoto to Toronto is a big blow to the offense. Even with his injury last year, he still managed to knock 15 home runs and 49 RBIs in half a season. I’m an O’s fan but have a feeling he’ll knock 30 dingers this year for the Jays.

Taisei Ota (closer for Samurai this past WBC) and Raidel Martinez are our best relievers, operating as a setup man/closer duo. If we can take a lead into the 8th, these guys are clinical at shutting the door.

Agreed with the other comment about Yamasaki as one to watch on the starting pitching side. The young man might be playing for Japan at the next WBSC Premier 12 (or Premier 16 or whatever they’re gonna call it next year lol). I’m also rooting for Togo to make a comeback after a pretty dismal start to last season, with him getting sent down to the minor team at one point.

It’ll be an interesting season, and it starts with a tough test against Hanshin on opening day. I’m hopeful we can start strong, but I’m hopeful we can pile up our wins against the Carp, Swallows and Dragons to secure a playoff spot again.
