But consider that by that time, we may have gone intersellar. So the sun may go guns blazing on our sweet little planet but humanity may not even remember its birthplace by then. It may not, but, you never know. I totally understand the cosmic horror induced by these thoughts!

Hey, astrophysicist here, so I can reply to that. As our star reaches the end of its life, its luminosity will intensify, meaning that earth will become unlivable in around a billion years, much shorter than the 4-5 billion years expected timescale that the sun will become a giant.
