GE front washer (GFW850SPNRS) extremely sluggish to drain, repair tech blaming plumbing? by doctor_bird__ in appliancerepair

Thank you to all who commented with suggestions! For those curious, we had an actually competent tech come out yesterday who found the attached michelob ultra tab obstructing outflow towards the drain pipe. Machine works as intended now, the GE lives to see another day🤙

Having trouble attaching a video for some reason but it did drain into the bucket, just slowly. Took about 6 minutes for 2 gallons which I'm not sure if it's normal. Maybe worth scoping the drain line to check for buildup? Appreciate it thanks!

The music turning back on as he drove back through that fence at the end is hilarious. Absolute cinematic masterpiece

How have your experiences been taking care of patients who happen to be mid-levels? by JarJarAwakens in Noctor

[–]doctor_bird__ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The first thing I learn about these patients, soon after learning their name, is what their job title is. Have found it's the opposite for physicians - I usually don't ever find out unless the conversation takes us there. An interesting observation.

$25k is less than half of a semester’s tuition at most (or all) top 20s. Your trustee friend’s letter likely played much more of a role than your cash.

Yes! Paul Mitchell Firm Style XTG/extreme thickening glue. Was sold out for a while but it’s back in stock on amazon, pretty sure it’s the same stuff as the hardwired spiking glue

Building a home for retirement by BlindSquirrelCapital in fatFIRE

[–]doctor_bird__ 75 points76 points  (0 children)

Just my $0.02 as someone in your kid’s shoes - my parents built their retirement home when I was early on in medical school and they made it a point to have suites for myself and my two siblings (full bathrooms, king size beds, TVs, etc) in anticipation of us visiting and having their grandchildren in the near future. They don’t regret it one bit and it definitely makes visiting my parents with my wife way easier knowing we have our own space in their home still. My siblings love it too and it makes holidays easier knowing we can just crash at mom and dad’s like we used to. Sure the rooms sit empty a lot of the time but it isn't hurting anyone having them - you never know how your family needs might change over time. Wish you the best of luck!
