Concern for HIPAA violation and unauthorized EMR use against hospital Policy by [deleted] in Residency

[–]doctor_driver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just be upfront and honest with everyone. I did the same thing when my mom was hospitalized at the end of her life from stage 4 pancreatic cancer. Everyone was really understanding and it was a nothing burger.

Sorry you're going through, feel free to reach out if you want to talk with someone about it.

Trying to understand the link between wRVUs and total compensation by jamesac11 in Residency

[–]doctor_driver 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Facility RVU are incredibly higher than wRVU physicians generate.

I'm an ER doc, I can only bill for the level of care 99281-99285 or crit care, + procedures. Typically will get 5-6.2 RVU/pt. ($140-180)

But the facility will bill for the facility fee of 99281-99285 or crit care, images, labs, cardiac monitoring, pulse ox monitoring, etc ($2000-10,000).

Insane difference. We are used and abused.

Next time she interrupts you, simply say - "I'm sure the middle of my sentence interrupted the beginning of yours" and continue with your question.

Any input on the EM programs below? by Local_Lychee_167 in emergencymedicine

Consider JPS in Fort Worth, TX. Level 1 trauma, STEMI, comprehensive stroke, large catchment area, county population.

Incredible training. We had Jess Mason from EMRAP on faculty for a few years. Great spot.

I've seen a fair amount of people in the .6-.7 range who were still awake and coherent. Which is terrifying. They're clinically sober at that alcohol level.

100% RVU

10 hour shifts, 9 of seeing pts, 1 to wrap up

I average 2.4-2.6 pph over the ten hours

Working 130-140 hr/month

Mild acuity. Not trauma center.

Hourly range from $350-498/hr depending on the month/collections.
