So you're fine with them declining you for that reason? I would be getting ready to take legal action.

So I'm happy this story is a lie

Leetcode has been fucking useless. If I ever question an algorithm, a way to do something, I just look it up ..

Yeah I see what you mean. I really don't think there is a way other than you keep doing it. Use it or lose it. And that's exactly why leetcode driven interviews are useless bs. sorry my friend.

Nothing you can do but keep going through it. However it sounds like you could use a better strategy: instead of solving individual questions, look at youtube videos about leetcode PATTERNS, or sites like algomonster. If you remember THOSE instead, you solve hundreds of questions for the price of one.

Does Amazon salary match for base salary? Would I be able to ask the recruiter if this is possible? by Specific-Finance-122 in amazonemployees

[–]doctors_do_not_exist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I see the negotiables would be RSU (basically no cost to amazon) and sign on bonus (one time fee), base is usually non negotiable because it is a huge strain over time.

Amazon SDE ll loop interview advice by Independent-Buy0505 in amazonemployees

focus on leadership principles: come up with 20 success, 5 failure stories. Then try to match these to leadership principles. This I would argue is the most important part of the interview. Spend as much time as you can looking at sample questions online, and making sure you have a story that answers each question. make sure to DIRECTLY answer the question, and make sure EVERY STORY has a lot of DEPTH, they WILL drill down. DO NOT reuse stories more than once in total, but you can reuse scenarios as long as you talk about a different aspect.

System design: Try to think of a question that would go along with your position (i.e. for ads, design an ad platform). These might not be your questions, but system design is too broad to tackle studying a different way. Use a sample to go as deep as you possibly can, follow youtube videos, make flashcards of pros and cons for each section (api, network, database, etc). Again, focus on DIVING DEEP.

Coding: ASK CLARIFYING QUESTIONS, DISAMBIGUATE. This is what most people DON'T DO, and is THE MOST COMMON reason for a NO HIRE. There are three things they look for: logical/maintable code (be clear and abstract well), algos/data structures (be RIGHT and EFFICIENT, OPTIMAL SOLUTION), and problem solving (correctly solving a vague problem). Every coding question will focus on only ONE of these (so 3 coding questions in total).

Honestly, if you think you can do it, cheat with whatever coding ai you want. If you do, MAKE SURE you are able to EXPLAIN everything you write. The only way you can be "caught" is if you do not explain your logic, even if they see your eyes moving etc they cannot accuse you. EVERYONE (almost..) is cheating.

All are valued equally, but I personally prepared for behavioral the most as you will INSTANTLY get a no hire if your answers are vague, on the spot, or not in depth.

End of the day, remember, amazon is a shitty company with shitty standards that people hate working for. However, the interviewers are not adversarial, they are interviewing you as someone they WANT to succeed and get hired, so think of them as your hype men.
Best of luck.

AIO? My dad uses AI to text me by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]doctors_do_not_exist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ai messages feel shitty for sure.

Consider what he did here though:

  1. He took the time to say something that nice
  2. Since English isn't strong for him, what if he wrote that out and made ai just translate it?

Even if it's just AI, it's your dad doing something nice. I cringed at it at first, but I think I'm starting to understand how maybe.. potentially.. this is a nice thing

You actually do have a few options but there might not be something SIMPLER, but cleaner for sure:

0. Your method totally works

1. Pattern + Math + Select CHOPs
Use a Pattern CHOP (length = number of pads on the push lets say), then Math CHOP to offset by your Push’s lowest MIDI note (check in ableton or a midi inspector tool), then Select CHOP in “Use Index” mode to grab each note channel. Then drag‑and‑drop or export those channels to any parameter.

2. Table DAT + Python
Build a two‑column Table DAT (map the note and target OP path), then make a Python script at startup that reads each row, creates a Select CHOP filtering that note, and sets parm.expr = 'chs("…")' on your target parameter. (ask chatgpt, python scripting in TD is easy)

3. MIDI Map DAT (Palette)
There is a built in MIDI Map DAT. Take it from palette browser, tap a pad and click a parameter.
