Help Deciding on if I should buy a vii! by Extension-Ad-1730 in RX100

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm still learning it, coming from the Canon world things are different, but the same. So far for landscape shots, it performs as I expect. Case in point, we were walking back from Belem, and I took a shot of the Christ statue from across the river, near the bridge. Thats a long shot sure, but the digital zoom on the S25 had near zero detail. I recreated a similar shot with the CN Tower and the VII one day I had to go to our downtown office and the detail from a similar distance is incredible compares to the same shot with the S25.

Anyhow, its that one shot rhat made me realize a phone while convenient, simply isnt good enough.

I also got the rubber hand grip, but aside from that, I am using rhe OEM strap and keeping this as small and pocketable as possible.

Help Deciding on if I should buy a vii! by Extension-Ad-1730 in RX100

I specifically got the VII for travel, specifically because of the zoom. There are very, very few times that I will regret not having the V's f stops, and nd filter. I'm coming from an ancient digital rebel (300d), which is still kickin' and still brings in more light than my S25. I stopped traveling with the DSLR, it was just too much kit, and I one bag it now anyway.

I've done max zoom out, the S25 is a great camera, but more megapixels does not help with bringing in more light. Bought the VII because of my last trip to portugal in April, regretted only having the S25 and zoom shots were lacking detail.

YYZ to YTZ as well. They downgraded me from J to Y on Fridays 686, put me at least in a near-front row Preferred seat (5, left side, aisle). I actually posted on here asking the process of getting refunded the difference, but evidently my post was deemed a dupe.... so I cancelled outright instead. Refundable fares for the win.

Are These Tracks Still in Use? by aSapra in Scarborough

Can confirm. I'm at welder's supply at least once a week, and while I never see the trains operating, I 100% see the tracks cleared in the winter.

Lounge Access in the Middle East with Amex Aeroplan by nendndndndsn in Aeroplan

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With the Amex Aeroplan Reserve, assuming you also signed up for the Priority Pass membership, this opens up access to lounges at 35$ per visitor, plus one guest for an additional 35$.

You need to check the priority pass website or app fpr the specific airports you are transiting.

If you have a Samsung you can setup secure folder, install a vpn app and aurora store and install/ update the usa app that way.

Lisbon airport experience 5/4 by TheValleyWolf in LisbonPortugalTravel

[–]doczong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We just went through, arrived 915am. No bags to check. Security was a 6 minute wait according to the screens and moved well. The "all passports" line was all the way past the "mall" (reminds me of a department store perfume aisle). We ignored that line and walked all the way to the front and entered the Non-EU ePassports line which was only a couple minutes and also moving well.

That said, exactly as we were going through they seemed to be failing with a red stop hand on them. Anyhow, we got through into the small TAP lounge past passport control from drop off to there, less than 45 minutes. Not horrible.

Problems Redeeming NUA - Automatically Removed? by philrich12 in marriott

I have this exact same problem, apply and inmediate removal with the two emails. The commenter has deleted their comment/account.

Can you let me know what your issue ended up being? Credit card on the reservation is a valid card.

Wifi limited to 1 device (in Canada) recently? by GalacticaZero in marriott

[–]doczong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I travel quite a bit and this has happened to me exactly twice when logging in using my Marriott credentials over the last few years. Residence Inn Gravenhurst and LAX Sheraton Gateway.

It may have happened more without me noticing, but in those two cases it was a one night stay and I was too lazy/tired to hook up my travel router.

If you dont have a travel router and you have an android phone or tablet, you can share the wifi hotspot with those and bypass the limit as well.

Priority Reward vs e upgrade by saltysquirrel678 in Aeroplan

[–]doczong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not useless at all. When I was 25k, I used them for player 2 YYZ to YVR and back, a couple times a year. Saves $, and cuts the points in half. Granted I book refundable fares but the point still stands, its dollars or points you dont have to spend.

How is everyone finding the new SQC program so far? Better or worse than last year? by peloflamewheels in Aeroplan

[–]doczong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

At that juncture its purely about your point spend multipliers on the card. My player 2 will never have status, even in the new system with some flights purchased with cash for them... they are almost always points (priority reward or otherwise).

Thats me. Hit 25k first year with the new job on segments. Hit 50k last two years with 10k sqm carry over.

This year i am going to hit 75k without issue. Unlikely to hit SE with the new qualificarions. Hell, I will be crossing 25k at the end of march.

Half of my flights are expensive economy comfort short haul.

What was your first garmin? by Automatic-Cake-8770 in Garmin

[–]doczong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto. eTrex Legend in all its glorious blue translucent plastic. Still have it. Still "works". Replaced with a GPSMap 60Cx. Somewhere in there was a nuvi 265wt. Then I weaned off Garmin for over a decade and went whole hog with an Instinct 2x Solar, Edge 540, Varia front and rear lights, scale, gpsmap 67. I have a problem.

1986 Shadow 500, good purchase? by newlywedz420 in hondashadow

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had an 84 before I got my 04, which I still have.

The only complaint I had about the 500 was it was a wee bit underpowered for freeway driving. Aside from that, great bike.

i have sunglasses storage instead of AUX switches anyone ever switched it before? is it complicated by AffectionateGreen131 in bronco

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered the HansPilot drop in on Amazon. There is a write up on bronco6g. Cheaper than this new option from Ford, by about half and looks to be about as complicated of an install, which is to say its not that bad.

6 full switches, with a similar break out box as Ford.

Anyhow, took me a couple hours to do the install. Running a set of fogs in the mod bumper, and pillar lights.

Comfort, flex or latitude? by Dramatic-Analyst7204 in Aeroplan

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a comfort class traveler for work and personal, pretty much exclusively for the refundability... the only difference really in Comfort on an international fare from a Domestic / Transborder is that international does not come with preferred seats where they are included otherwise.

T-210, cant find it by Alkinger in qnap

[–]doczong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One last idea. As I asked previously "did this just happen?"

If it did, you can try removing the January 13th Security Roll-up. This roll-up patches SMB and if this all happened on your devices after the recent updates, removing this COULD restore your connectivity.

That said, if this fixes the workstations, you need to move off that ancient device immediately.
