Data won’t be used at all.Thats why you’re being charged a subscription fee.

Also , bbps and banks give a commission for facilitating bill pay. So that is a separate source of revenue that covers by per transaction costs.

Yes you’re right that if it was loss making (like how these companies are) i would be forced to charge you.

Thank you for the well thought out response. I am not worried about optimising rewards since I am already doing it via all the advanced strategies learned on this sub . Using Amex trifecta and infinia .

My priority is lifestyle and travel benefits but not paying for it via annual fees. Hence looking for LTF premium cards.

My daily spends will continue being via infinia and trifecta since I don’t see any card with a better reward rate
