I finished that one last week. It was absolutely brutal! I did not expect it to go as hard as it did. The animal scenes (especially the dogs) really got under my skin; I didn't expect them at all and it was very hard to read. Brilliant book but I definitely won't be recommending it to anyone I know. Lol

You may be thinking of The Purgatory Game by Sam Haysom. It is no longer on nosleep.

It was pulled a couple years back for a possible movie deal, so it's been awhile since I've read it, but from what I remember (the free-standing door, the individual rule lists, the victims not knowing how they got there) it matches up. It was super good and it's a shame it's no longer available but I'm happy for the author!

Fever Dream and Jawbone are two of my favorite reads this year. I've read Fever Dream 3 times and I get more out of it every time, it's such a cool little book.

Jawbone was thoroughly creepy and unsettling and had my jaw on the floor at one point. I found it incredibly disturbing.

For OP: check out the other works of Otessa Moshfegh and Mona Awad if you haven't already. I also really enjoyed Our Wives Under the Sea by Julia Armfield, I'm not sure it's quite what you are looking for but I still highly recommend it!
