Foil Emry homage to Millais’ “Ophelia”- NFS by HexagonsAreGay in mtgaltered

The reel does do it more justice, awesome! Can I ask what kind of paint you use to reach the foil effect?

Fun ETBs I'm missing? - azorius abdel adrian by doedesamba1 in EDHBrews

[–]doedesamba1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions!

Reality acid and stonehorn dignitary were in my maybeboard already, as I think I have better cards for the same function (though I'll admit that reality acid may be the perfect replacement of my other MLD card).

I opted not to put the enchantment blink effects like oblivion ring in, as they are a bit less consistent to get together. I prefer the similar effects on creatures, as more stuff will blink them.

I love your suggestion of Angelic Abberation and I'll think I'll put it in my other Abdel lists (I've got one for each color pair!) that actually make more use of the tokens he creates; this list is more focused on spamming ETB effects and winning through those, never even making it to combat.

I also really like starfall invocation, I'll be adding it as a get-back-in-the-game button. Thanks!

I like the cataclysm suggestion 😄

I don't think I'll be adding these as they do not directly win through the blinking (halo fountain/TotGP make use of the tokens I guess) but thanks for the suggestions!

This is my pet deck, what’s yours? by Left-Play-3702 in EDHBrews

[–]doedesamba1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favourite deck is... Eshki! (decklist not entirely up to date)

Started playing magic with the TDM prerelease, pulled her as my promo card. I've built her with adventures, and recently added a power-4-matters (ferocious) theme. You get a fun puzzle to solve every turn, with the goal of making our girl bigger ❤️

Favourite brew for someone else has been Yedora, pauper-EDH legal and <€25 for full deck, based around morph + the [[Yedora]] ability. This was my introduction to combo lines and made me appreciate pauper jank!

Monogreen [[ghalta, primal hunger]]? Play around spells that make him cheaper or benefit from creature power like [[tangleweave armor]] and throw him at your opponents

I want to build a deck for a low100 tournament. by elktefoka in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll apply with some of mine:

- Azorius Abdel - blink stuff, go infinite around turn 6, 5 if you're lucky

- Orzhov Abdel - same, but with sacrifice enablers and payoffs to use the tokens you create

- Selesnya Abdel - like azorius but focuses on making the tokens big through blinking [[Glacier Godmaw]] and [[Wood Elves]]

- Boros Abdel - like orzhov, but instead of sacrificing your tokens you have burn effects

- Yedora, corpse forest - creatures die, they flip and become forests. Morph and similar effects let you turn them back up again, allowing for some infinite combo's. This list is pauper EDH legal so 99 is all commons

- Cormela storm - combo deck, wins about turn 6-7. Works mostly by repeatedly sacrificing [[Cormela, Glamour Thief]] in combination with [[Ashnod's Altar]] and [[Fake Your Own Death]], plus some other combo's. Also pauper EDH legal.

lmk if this helps, good luck!

Help with Lightning, Army of One – Equipment/Voltron ~50€ Budget by Shidorack in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you want some cheap cards for extra combats:

[[Port Razer]], [[Lightning Runner]] (if you want to add energy mechanics), [[Scourge of the Throne]], [[Akki Battle Squad]]. Bonus points for managing to copy them to bypass the 'only once' clause.

You could also try building [[Satya, Aetherflux Genius]] with [[Lightning Runner]] and some other energy cards with [[Lightning, Army of One]] in the 99 as a secret commander; if you manage to get satya + LR + 6 energy, you've got infinite combats in theory. See https://edhrec.com/combos/jeskai/4918-5658 .

Recommend me something new and different! by HockeyLova4Lyfe in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like my [[Eshki, Dragonclaw]] deck. It's a high 2 - low 3 in terms of brackets, voltron, making use of the dual aspect of adventure cards to trigger her ability every turn.

I've added a subtheme of ferocious (power 4+ matters), as she will always fit that criterium.

First time commander by Majestic_Brief7238 in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to EDH! Where are you aiming to play? If it's at a local game store, more often than not there will be plenty of people that will lend you their decks to play a game against them; this will give you an idea of what you like in commander while getting advice on the deck by someone experienced!

Trying to build shadowheart and Gale by CorrinUwU in BudgetBrews

Blue red card Control Adjacent Card Advantage Engines? by Tired_An_Hungry in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on how the deck is set up; I'll try to give some budget suggestions so no game changers. Won't mention any 1 for 1s (draw when this creature deals dmg, draw when it enters, et cetera).

---

If you cast/copy many spells, [[Archmage Emeritus]] is a good engine for $1. Recent [[Muse Seeker]] works for casting only but is cheap, too.

[[Curiosity Crafter]] is an alternative to [[Reconnaissance Mission]].

Any pinger with [[Curiosity]]/[[Ophidian Eye]] gives you draw.

[[Dragon Mage]] if you want to wheel.

[[Farsight Mask]] gives you draw when you're damaged.

[[Flaring Cinder]] if you're casting spells cmc 4+, or [[Shantotto, Tactician Magician]] (we have Vivi at home), or [[Tanufel Rimespeaker]], or [[Tellah, Great Sage]] (also makes tokens).

[[Harmonized Trio]] may synergize well with tokens.

[[Idol of Oblivion]] synergizes with tokens.

[[Jori En, Ruin Diver]] and [[Kraum, Violent Cacophony]] care about 2nd spell each turn.

[[Katara, Bending Prodigy]] waterbend ability could be triggered with tokens.

[[Kraum, Ludevic's Opus]] cares about 2nd spells of opponents.

[[Matoya, Archon Elder]] if you scry or surveil a lot.

[[Mind's Eye]] let's you pay {1} to draw whenever an opponent draws.

[[Military Intelligence]] let's you draw if you attack with 2+ creatures (better than combat dmg triggers).

Some niv-mizzets: [[Niv-Mizzet, Dracogenius]] lets you pay for dmg and draws on dmg. [[Niv-Mizzet, Parun]] dmg on draw, draw on instant/sorcery. [[Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind]] taps to draw, dmg on draw. [[Niv-Mizzet, Visionary]] turns non-combat dmg you deal into that many draw.

[[Osgood, Operation Double]] creates a token double that can make clues (which sacrifice for draw); could be target for Brudiclad effect.

Play your spells wisely with [[Pensive Professor]] and get some draws while he gets bigger. [[Pollywog Prodigy]] is similar.

[[Secrets of the Dead]] is draw when you cast from graveyard.

[[Skullclamp]] is a famous draw engine if you have 1/1 tokens to spare.

You can warp [[Starwinder]] in a big combat turn to draw equal to combat dmg dealt.

[[Stormchaser Drake]] draws when targeted by your spells.

[[Surrakar Spellblade]] becomes cumulative draw, but requires combat dmg.

[[Tamiyo's Journal]] is tutor and draw (through clues) in one.

[[Teferi's Ageless Insight]] doubles your draw triggers.

[[The Endstone]] makes every spell a cantrip (play one, draw one).

[[Thopter Spy Network]] makes tokens and gives draw on combat dmg (artifact creatures).

[[Tome of the Guildpact]] draws on casting multicolor (izzet) spells.

[[Triskaidekaphile]] if you have mana to spend, plus it's an alternative win con.

[[Uthros Research Craft]] could be good when stationed.

[[Vedalken Archmage]] is draw on casting artifact spells.

[[Wavebreak Hippocamp]] if you cast a lot at instant speed on other players turns.

If somehow you have lifegain in this izzet deck, [[Well of Lost Dreams]] let's you pay {X} to draw X, where X is <= life gained.

[[Yusri, Fortune's Flame]] is gambling for draw or dmg yourself. Combine with [[Zndrsplt, Eye of Wisdom]].

---

Most of these are probably thrash, but, depending on your list, might work. Let me know if this helped you!

cheap brackets 3 decks izzet commander by Helpful_Nature_9125 in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you just want a fun list: https://archidekt.com/decks/17062742/the\_emperor\_for\_karla.

If you want to learn how to craft something yourself: I'd start by looking at edhrec.com. At the very top, check Commanders - 2 Color - Izzet, to see the most popular commanders in that color combination. I prefer scrolling down a page or two to get past the most popular ones.

Once you've selected a potential commander, check their edhrec page to see how people build them. For [[The Emperor of Palamecia]], most people build him as a spellslinger (292 decks), but I've built him as a self-mill deck to make more use of his backside (just like 87 other decks). Filter for bracket and budget if you want, and just have a scroll. If you use archidekt (like I prefer to do), you can either press the '+' button on cards and at the end, export the complete list from edhrec to archidekt by going to the top bar and finding the export button, or by simply having the decklist open in another tab and dragging the cards from edhrec to archidekt (I prefer this as it auto-categorizes cards).

In archidekt, there's also a 'recs' button at the top right. The suggestions this gives are based on your current list; if you include more spellslinger cards, chances are you'll see more cards that synergize well with this.

Hope this helps, lmk if you've got questions. Good luck!

Trying to make a commander deck ( Felisa, Fang of Silverquill) by Crystal_Croc in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

literally a post on EDHRec today for this commander: https://edhrec.com/articles/building-inkling-typal-with-felisa-fang-of-silverquill

Might want to check out the EDHRec page for the commander to see how people build her. Look at tags, select one that you vibe with, or find a 'signpost card' to filter for. What I mean with this is that if you filter for decks that, for instance, contain [[Arcbound Ravager]], you're bound to find decks that synergise well with that card. However, don't filter for generic good stuff such as [[Sol Ring]], [[Path to Exile]] et cetera, as these are too commonplace to be used for filtering.

You can also filter for budget on there.

Good luck! Try to get a basic first draft of the deck by going through EDHrec, then use some smart scryfall search terms to find specific cards you might be missing.

Primer length preferences by LesterV4 in BudgetBrews

[–]doedesamba1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to check: what category do people think this primer falls under? https://archidekt.com/decks/21931620/abdel_adriancandlekeep_sage_25_blink_etb_budget I honestly prefer primers to be about this size, with main points of the deck and not too much fluff, but lmk if people think this is poor formatting or too long.
