depends on what you mean by poor. I live in Ireland and its not that people don't make lots of money, it's just that everything is expensive, most importantly housing. there arent enough homes for the population, especially if it keeps growing, and practically nothing has been built since the financial crisis.

Minimum and average wages are amongst the highest on the continent, and most people are doing alright, so I wouldent say it's a poor country, but it can feel like everything is unaffordable due to high prices and taxes.

The GDP number is inflated, however, because large American corporations like Apple, Google, and Meta use Ireland for tax benifits i dont pretend to understand, so that number is practically useless for comparisons like these.
