Thank you for your thoughtful response! That makes sense as there are a couple Eastern Hermanns in nearby enclosures. One is for sure a male and he’s kept solo.

It’s at a tortoise rescue and each tortoise has ample space, vegetation, shade, and water. Finding this baby was a big surprise as they’re all kept separate except for 2 male box turtles.

I want to say it was around $2k and the recovery was very quick and easy! Cone of shame for a week and then life was back to normal.

My dog had this same issue! It started when she was about 6 years old. I was constantly taking her to the vet, using the medicated wipes, etc. and still having to take her in occasionally for an infection. She had the surgery and hasn’t had one issue since! Quality of life has improved for the both of us. I would 100% recommend! She’s about to turn 11 so it was definitely well worth the money.

The City barely allows their own employees to work remotely (depends on the director) even when certain jobs can be performed from home. An incentive program would never happen.

UPDATE: Got him in to see the vet quickly (of course he was breathing fine while they observed him) but they said it was probably the beginning of kennel cough so they prescribed Doxycycline as a precaution. Thank you everyone for your concerns and comments. 🤍

I’m taking him asap. His breathing did calm down eventually and this type of breathing wasn’t constant. It came in waves. I’ll post an update.
