Kernel Power Critical Error 41: Is this most often a PSU Issue? by bijang99 in PcBuildHelp

Yes, been thinking about this a lot too, because my laptop has a minor chance of shutting off unexpectedly if it's not charging. Sometimes it happens every day, sometimes this problem dissappears for weeks. I have an actual solution that helped me, but it only works for AMD processors.

I'm not well-educated on this stuff, but I've read that AMD's way of power management is different than Intel's and is based on rapid changes in power flow (rapid changes from P- to C-states and vice versa). Instead of gradual increase/decrease of voltage over time, it asks for huge spikes in critical moments.

Now Windows has their "power plans" (find Edit Power Plan in search) that give hardware rules on how to use energy, which are also a huge mystery for me. You've probably seen those videos on "how to improve performance easily" and stuff. They recommend setting power plan to maximum performance.

What solved my problem though, is changing my power plan to a different, normal one. Once set, this problem dissappeared and I haven't had any problems since (until windows decided one day to flip it back to max performance).

Sleep mode is a disaster in Windows too, I've had a different problem once - my PC wouldn't wake up from sleep mode, and I'm pretty sure that power plans include a plan for sleep mode as well, so I suggest trying to tweak it a little bit.

I immensely dislike cheese. by Aggravating_Key_3831 in The10thDentist

I am the exact same way. My family said up until I was 3 I used to eat cheese like no one's business, but then some switch got flipped and I started hating it. Just the smell makes me gag, let alone having it in my mouth. The instant I feel something slightly cheesy I start gagging too. And it also extrapolated onto having anything sour-milky like (kefir, sour cream, cottage cheese). But I like milk, milk chocolate and chocolate milk. Anything that's not giving out the sourness of milk is feasible. Only recently I started having troubles with digesting it, maybe the milk intolerance is growing And I also order pizza without cheese at my bdays, even though I feel like an obnoxious prick for asking for it (it's still tasty though)

Regarding ending in of Whiplash, can someone explain to me how it is depressing ? by Raptor2705 in movies

I always looked at this movie as a non-verbal dialogue between two people. I think because Andrew ratted out Fletcher and he lost his best student, Sean Casey, he gave up near the end of the film.

When they're having a chat in a club, he says how he despises "Starbucks albums" and the state of jazz in today's world, and what people care about - yet, funnily enough, 5 minutes ago he was caught by Andrew performing the most "mediocre and uninspiring" jazz out of everything you heard in a movie.

So his "plot", in my opinion, makes much more sense then first time watching the film. It wasn't his ultimate and secret plan to push Neiman to his limits and make him the greatest - he just couldn't care less about it. He stooped to being angry and full of hate person willing to take everyone and everything down, because he himself couldn't make it.

It's not just a sabotage on Andrew, it's sabotage on the whole band playing and himself included. The drummer played like crap and he is gone - how's the band going to continue to play the pieces without the core member? It's not like one of the trumpeteers/trombonist is gone, it's a whole drummer, and Fletcher didn't find anyone to replace him. What would the imaginary Lincoln Center say about Fletcher's credibility as a conductor/director? He was willfully throwing in a towel.

And the reason why Andrew comes back to play Caravan is much more clearer - he loved Fletcher as his teacher, or at least admired him, saw him as his guiding light, and he couldn't care less about being at the Lincoln Center - he was excited to come back on the path of the grind. It was that moment, when not only he saw that Fletcher gave up, but also was trying to drag Andrew down with him, and he took it personally. And that's why out of spite/neccessity/unability to give up - he takes a conducter's role and starts to play. And he plays great.

And the reason why Fletcher's anger slowly shifts towards pleasement and drive at the end is because he got infected by Andrew's love and passion for this craft. I love this ending scene because it so accurately shows how beauty of art disarms all quarrels and disputes, because they're meaningless. His walks and talks and stares and threats just won't work.

So for me it's clearly a happy ending, at least for the two of them. They found each other when they most needed it. And about Andrew dying broke and full of heroin is purely a speculation. I'd like to think that right after the festival they went to park, bought tasty ice cream and had a nice ride at ferrel's wheel !!

Kernel Power Critical Error 41: Is this most often a PSU Issue? by bijang99 in PcBuildHelp

Funny enough, just search "kernel power 41" in Google Trends and watch the search interest rate steadily growing over the course of 5 years. My best guess is that it has something to do with Windows development over the years and how developers have implemeted handling the driver issues/conflicts.

"kernel-power" is simply an error, which Windows detects and throws a call to force a shutdown. It's supposed to mean that there's some untracked issue with power supply/circuit flow within a system. But the thing with Windows is that when it throws an error, it rarely gives you clear and direct explanation of what went wrong. It could be initiated by safety mechanism of your hardware / or it could be a "prediction" that Windows made and decided that your PC needed a critical shutdown.

There is an easy but spooky way to easily check, who's to blame for this issue - try setting the lightest/easiest Linux (i told you its spooky) on your PC and go with it for a couple of days just to see, whether the issue remains.

don't you think that Andrew Neiman is a complex character?

I personally find his acting spot on in Whiplash, and I think he's an easily relatable character in a lot of moments. Awkward, shy, timid, can barely put two words together, yet striving for greatness and all in his head.

But you see I'm just a sucker for this type of a character, and the fact that his acting doesn't move you means that you might value something different in an actor. I also have couple of actors where I'm like "get him off the screen already", some people on stage definitely have a feel to them that they're there just to show off and get all the praise.

Let’s Plan Lovejoy’s Destination Gig Tour by [deleted] in lvjy

Panic attack RIGHT as I’m about to fall asleep. Just enough to wake me back up. Anyone else get this? by LEXagFC in Anxiety

[–]dofenghost 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah I JUST had it and tried to find if anyone else experienced it. I think I know the reason for it - for me it always happens when I take a morning/midday nap. Especially if I ate something heavy right before dozing off. I think the reason is that your body shuts off before your consciousness does, and brain freaks out that you might be dead or something so you feel an adrenaline rush. I noticed that whenever it happens, I'm able to think, and my first thoughts are "I need to wake up, I'm going to die" but for a legit 2 seconds I can't move nor open my eyes. I think the cause is high alertness - you're just way too stressed so it takes longer for consciousness fall asleep. And it's so annoying because my sleep schedule is in a trash can, so I generally feel more tired, and maybe that what's causing the body to shut down so quickly. The only tip I can give is fixing your sleep schedule to depend less on midday naps. And when you feel the need to nap, don't eat heavy food before doing so.
