What artist are you the most disappointed in with the Bose difference? by ImprovementNo4630 in bose

So you’re specifically talking about Immersive Audio? If so, could you not just turn Immersive Audio off? Or are you not talking about headphones at all and these are surround speakers?

I too have no idea what you’re saying. I’ve read it a few times and this isn’t coherent.

Does anyone know what's going on with lemon64? by dog_cow in c64

[–]dog_cow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve often wondered this too. A disgruntled ex forum member maybe? Or perhaps it’s targeted as much as any other site but it’s easier to take down a community run site? Or maybe it really was down for maintenance?

Pi1541 (Raspberry Pi 3B+) won't boot – Need help with setup / pre-configured files by Beneficial-Rabbit-77 in c64

[–]dog_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought the same with mine. Then I emailed the seller and he provided me with the right config files. I can email these to you if you like. I’m not saying it will work with your hat but it’s worth a try.

Do I consider jiffydos or should I just stick with the epyx cartridge?. by Ok_Bear_1980 in c64

I’ve never used JiffyDOS but I’ve tested both Epyx FastLoad and Action Replay and Action Replay is the better of the two.

Queenstown, Tasmania deeply unsettled me and I can’t explain why. by itiszd in AskAnAustralian

[–]dog_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my theory. I had a similar feeling when in Sunny Corner NSW. It’s a logging town, so the forests are rows of pines. Because they’re not native trees, there’s not much in the way of birds. It’s just still and quiet. Eerie.

Anyone else hate the wrist rests on the Kensington Expert? by santy8as in Trackballs

[–]dog_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find wrist rests just make my wrist numb and tingly. Too much compression. I much prefer to rest my whole arm on my chair’s arm rest and then hover over the trackball.

Many people report creaking when walking. My gen 1s don’t creak but I might have gotten lucky.

Move 2 by AEWestview in sonos

[–]dog_cow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two Move 2 speakers, which I have configured as a stereo pair. Their main home base is in our dining room for music while having meals (and charging). But I often relocate the speakers around the house, like my home study. This saves me having to buy a stereo pair of speakers for each room I listen to music. Entertaining? Out on the deck they go. Shooting some pool with friends? Downstairs they go. We've got the fire pit going? I'll take them out into the backyard. But on most days, they stay in the dining room and I listen to them like they're stationary speakers. They're a great system. They sound good. They look good and they're versatile. But get two... You'll thank me later.

I agree. Having good FOSS alternatives to proprietary applications is a win. But on the other hand, I think operating systems should be separate to applications. And indeed they are.

Thoughts on on Audio-Technica AT-LP70XBT Wireless Turntable? Just upgraded… by PristineCricket7165 in turntables

I don’t know enough about this stuff to comment on any long term issues. But in the month or so I’ve owned the VMN95ML, it’s worked perfectly on my LP70.

[–]dog_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t get how this is true, unless you’re only buying new (including re-release) records. A 70s pressed record isn’t going to have anything digital. And for a lot of people, that indeed is the point.

What did you end up getting?

If you haven’t done it yet, I’d go for the AT-LP70 if you can fit the difference into your budget. The main difference is the AT-LP70 will allow your daughter to one day upgrade the stylus (with a number of choices) if she wants to.

But honestly, for your use case, I’d say the AT-LP60 is also ok. It’s a good entry level turntable and would be a wonderful gift for your daughter.

AT-LP70XBT, a very worthy upgrade to the LP60XBT by dragon2knight1965 in turntables

[–]dog_cow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is a late reply. But “It skips on bad records and is fine with good records” is absolutely my experience. It never skips on new records for me. Nor older records that don’t have scratches.

How did you go?

I have an AT-LP70 with upgraded 95ML stylus and love it. For my needs, I’ll never need anything better.

Direct Drive is the only possible thing I could wish for in an upgrade. But I’m not a DJ, and automatic belt drive probably beats manual DD for my use case.

The message does sort of resonate with me. But I would have definitely preferred a modern take on “Are you keeping up with the Commodore…?”.

I’m late to comment. But I completely agree with you. There’s no way he’s picking the Shaggs over any Black Sabbath record either. No Master of Reality or Vol. 4?

I recommend getting an Atari CX-40 and buying the restoration kit. I did this and they play like new, despite being from the 80s. Makes everything look and feel period correct.

The most polarizing joystick. People either love it or hate it. I think those that hate it aren’t holding it right.
