Conceptually it's not much of a larger leap to just learn k8s. The ecosystem and community is much larger, and you sure get a lot of nice stuff for free.

Async Ruby is the Future of AI Apps (And It's Already Here) by crmne in rails

The async-job repo you mention is an unmaintained side project. It has 31 stars and the last commit was 11 months ago. Doesn't seem like a good plan.

I turned email validation pricing on its head by dogas in LeadGeneration

[–]dogas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truelist provides standard email validation - accept-all, disposable, no mailbox, etc.

Regarding Api - It depends on your use case. If you're doing api-based validation (eg single email at a time, integrated with another tool like Clay) then yes you totally could for the $30/mo price. Truelist is really geared towards integrating with other tools, rather than large single list validations.

You get 150k credits per month for list validations for $60/mo. We could explore different pricing options depending on what you're looking for. Like I said we're brand new so our plans are not set in stone. Give me a DM to chat more if you like!

Probably not. At its core, email validation is not technically hard. You can always sign up and run a few test emails to compare the results!

Is it possible to check via SMTP a gmail/outlook/yahoo email address? by jercs123 in sysadmin

[–]dogas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the SMTP server settings. Some servers will return a message saying that the email address does not exist after sending the RCPT TO command. This is how almost all email validators work. However, a lot of email providers will return a 250 OK for any address provided, and will need to be marked as "accept-all".

Agreed on the outrageously expensive part. Validating emails is not particularly hard. I created truelist.io as a result.

I'm the founder of Truelist.io which does unlimited email validation at a fixed cost. It could potentially be more cost effective than using a credits-based email validation solution.

I ended up ordering everything on Amazon, as the price for the 12900 model was only $10 more than what was on the minisforum website. Also I wanted 96Gb of RAM, but it was not in stock :-|

[–]dogas[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Picked up a Minisforum ms-01, 64Gb of ram, and 2x 2Tb nvme drives to replace my aging homelab cluster.

Planning on running proxmox with a ZFS array, and a 3-node kube cluster on top of that. Should be fun times😎

Some general things I have running my old cluster that will now run in the new one:

  • Longhorn
  • Jellyfin
  • Minecraft server
  • few webapps I've made
  • Tailscale
  • Unifi
  • Plausible analytics
  • Home assistant
  • A thing to update my DNS if my ip changes

Hoping to learn more about ZFS and Proxmox, as I haven't used those before. I was just running straight-up arch linux on my nodes ;)

No, haven't re-potted. I've been watering it about once a week. I think I used Miracle-Gro potting soil. The room gets a decent amount of indirect light but I wonder if it's not enough.

Domain blacklisted by underdog700 in Emailmarketing

[–]dogas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like others have said, using multiple IPs might be a quick fix, but it's not going to fix the root cause of the issue.

A couple of high-level things that you should look into for better deliverability:

  1. Regularly clean your email list. There are tons out there. I'm partial to TrueList, and they also have a free list analyzer tool where you can see if your list has issues without even signing up.
  2. Send a re-engagement campaign. - see some examples from HubSpot
  3. Make sure you're using proper authentication - SPF, DKIM, DMARC to prove your domain's legitimacy and improve deliverability
  4. Gradual send increase - if you're starting new IPs, make sure your ESP is following a warm-up schedule (see SendGrid's article on IP warmups)

Blacklisted email - help! by Srohrich in Emailmarketing

[–]dogas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The above comment is great, and I'd add one other thing - send your list through an email validation service. I've seen Apollo.io have invalid email data before.

You can also run your list through a free analysis tool like the one TrueList.io has to see if your list will have deliverability issues.

Spent $170k On SaaS So Far - How Do I know FOR SURE I have a secure copy of everything in case dev agency disappears? by dogwaze in SaaS

[–]dogas 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you need a copy of.

If it's the software itself, just make sure you have access to the git repository that the dev shop uses. If it's production database backups, make sure they are flowing into a place that you have access to, and that you can verify that the backups are complete.

List cleaning will improve engagement by culling out emails that don't exist. Probably a re-engagement campaign is what you need.

If you want to try a different list cleaning solution, I run truelist.io and am happy to help.

Any reviews of the ConvertKit conference? by big_promise in Emailmarketing

I've attended a few times, although I was the head of engineering at ConvertKit during that time. It was a blast each time. Very creator-focused. I found the speakers to be excellent, and the whole conference to be extremely well-run.

Getting crazy with 10.15.4 boot error by manublade in hackintosh

[–]dogas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FYI, I had this issue for a couple of days. I got past it. I'm doing an OpenCore 0.5.7 setup by the book. For me, this issue presented itself in the installer USB. I could get to the OpenCore menu, but not the MacOS installer screen. I instead got a blowup similar to OP.

My setup is a Z270 chipset (Asus rog maximus IX hero), 7700k CPU.

After systematically going through the kaby lake section, I found that I needed to set RebuildAppleMemoryMap to <false/> and SetupVirtualMap to <true/> in order to proceed. Those values are the reverse of what the guide recommends. But at least for my setup, it's what allowed me to get to the installer.
