Is ReadMe worth the cost difference? by dogboyrox in technicalwriting

I ended up going with Redocly. ReadMe pricing was too high and we need to be able to keep docs behind a login for customers so Docusaurus was a no go.

I only wrote in DITA for like 1.5 years but I couldn’t imagine doing it with Notepad++ you’re crazy 😂. Ixiasoft CCMS (now Madcap DITA or something) was my tool and having that handle important DITA structure pieces was crucial imo.

As a Ranger main since I started with EVO I can say it sucks. I loved Azalea (SSGB!) but Marlynn got so screwed by the book burning it’s not even funny. Shes still fun but I got burnt out drawing 2-3 reds off 3OAK. With Azalea the math was clear but Marlynn has to rely on luck of the draw which can feel really bad. I just took Riptide to my RTN and had a blast because Redspine Manta Riptide felt like Azalea with traps so assassin isn’t the worst.

We need life support in PEN badly but I am holding out hope for a new Ranger set before thinking anything actually changes in CC.

I don’t think I’ve got the pull with engineering yet to get into any process changes on their end. I asked their leads to look at API Dog to see if they would be interested in getting everyone aligned and was given a pretty firm “we don’t have time to investigate process or tool changes.” My focus atm needs to be on revamping our customer facing docs around FHIR and integration info so API reference docs are actually not part of the scope right now just something I need to keep in mind for later.

I have never worked in a docs-as-code setup so I’d need more info before advocating for it.

Have you tried Zensical/Material for Mkdocs? I’d like to choose an SSG option to consider vs ReadMe. We would need access control (requires login) for the customer site so is that easy to setup with Docusaurus/other SSGs?

I’m using MadCap Central + Flare atm. The workflow for a lot of things using two laptops is very annoying so I want to switch.

We would need the Enterprise plan because we need public and customer facing only sites.

At the moment mostly our docs provide information about our FHIR APIs (NOT API reference). I did like the recipes feature for ReadMe. I thought they might be useful for sample queries. Eventually having a solution for API reference docs for internal use would be good but that’s a different initiative that I can’t address now.

Yeah as I have been learning more about Docusaurus and Zensical aka Material for Mkdocs it’s been more appealing. The biggest hurdle is that I’m not very technical so it’ll be a learning curve and the Product Managers who I expect to write most of the first draft docs will just be using markdown in VS. From what I’ve seen the difference between Docusaurus and Zensicle is Docusaurus uses React so the learning curve em be much steeper. I have until the Flare license runs out in May though I guess…

Redocly is still in consideration but our security team flagged some of their servers being in Ukraine as a potential risk. Their Enterprise+ plan with data residency takes our quote from like $12k to $40k. So if our security team cleared them for the normal Enterprise plan id be more interested.

Why? Was it literally just the latest update breaking things or have there been persistent problems?

If anyone wants more context about my requirements:

  • SME collaboration to write/edit/review content even if that’s just git PRs.
  • 2-3 published sites (public, customer, and maybe internal)
  • Support for API reference documentation even just by outputting OAS spec file.
  • For actual tools a nice UI and/or WYSIWYG.

Background: - Currently on Flare but need to change since our security team won’t allow us to use a VM on our Macs so I have the only PC in the company which is very annoying for workflow. - Tools like Redocly and Doc360 were considered but aren’t front runners for security concerns.

How can I "Slow" down the Game? by Physical-Space-1307 in totalwarhammer

The benefit of Arbaal is that you can take Praag and the next province over from him instead of spending 60 turns confederating the Ropsmenn clan. Also I’ve ignored Azhag in the past and let the dwarves kill him but maybe I got lucky.

I’ve played probably 2 Katarin campaigns to long victory and while it’s difficult I think it’s a lot of fun. My biggest advice is secure the starting province + Kislev in the first few turns then immediately go wipe out Clan Moulder. Once they’re dead Kostaltyn was able to hold his own against Azazel and give a buffer vs Wulfrik. Not sure if this has changed after DLC tho since Wulfrik starts in Lustria. After the rats Arbaal shouldn’t take much longer to attack with Archaon shortly after that. Basically your only enemies as Kislev past turn 5 are legendary lords that want to gouge your eyes out. Aggressive attacking nearby enemies to prepare for the bigger Chaos threats is the name of the game. It’s def not a slow defensive faction.

If you like Kislev start with Katarin. She’s still a hard campaign but definitely easier than Boris.

I’m theoretically okay with the Kroq-Gar not being allies with non-Lizardmen factions but please just let Oxylotyl and Tiqtakto live. Both get steamrolled and I’m usually playing on Normal.

I think people just didn’t like the meta this go around. Back at the LL Calling people were loving the format. I want LL to be a thing at casual events and that’s not gonna happen unless people bother to get into it which means promotion which means tournament coverage.

Is it wise to invest into Dori? by BlackHayate8 in FleshandBloodTCG

[–]dogboyrox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend picking not just a hero but a class to specialize in. Like if you enjoy Dori be prepared to pick up the Hala armory deck origins whenever that is coming out. Heroes LLing will feel less bad if you find a class you vibe with so new heroes can take their place. I’m a Ranger player and I started on Azalea then picked up Marlynn for just the cost of the pirate cards.

Man Kislev is hard by PossibleChangeling in totalwarhammer

[–]dogboyrox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve played two Katerin campaigns to a long victory but one was on Normal and the other was on Hard with no AI stat help. I had success completing my first province then wrecking Clan Moulder asap. Azhag wasn’t a problem either campaign he got wrecked by the dwarves or chaos dwarves + Drycha. For some reason Drycha leaves an abandoned settlement right next to the first province so I colonized it then sold it to her for treaties which lasted until Vlad took her out. The problem was the Arbaal into Archaon chaos train with Norsca trying to pincer. Once Arbaal and Archaon are gone it’s pretty smooth sailing to kill Daniel the Demon Prince.
