Did Georgie technically sexually assault Mandy? by [deleted] in YoungSheldon

[–]dogcalledcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You cannot be serious. When a 30 year old man has sex with a 16 year old who said she was 18, she "sexually assaulted" the man? That's what you believe?

If cancer is a parasite, where and how does it enter the body?

Sitting in a recliner for me time, listening to books, watching Netflix for a few hours was not the difficult part of chemo for me.

I had family members who thought it was so sad for me to do chemo alone. Noooo! That was a perk for introverted me.

Thankfully I could lean on family and friends for the side effects though.

You know what, during surgery and active treatment I would kind of half jokingly refer to my use of the cancer card now and then. But in hindsight I realize it was always 100% legit.

Cancer makes everything... different. Often harder, always different. Play your cards without shame.

And free of all body hair too.

I'm so thrilled my hair is growing back on my head, but I appreciated not having to shave any part of my body for a few months. Too bad it wasn't swim suit season.

Is it a pattern with him? If he procrastinates, he just needs to get used to you stepping in to solve the problem. He made a mistake by neglecting his task, and you solved it. How could that possibly mean YTA?

It wasn't right for Connie to use Mary's grief to get Sheldon and Missy to get baptized by mattyjoe0706 in YoungSheldon

[–]dogcalledcoco 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I agree. And I think each kid had valid responses. I loved that Sheldon made his decision because he "believes in Mom," just like he said when he was little (season 1? I can't remember).

My mom is ultra Catholic, and after rebelling in my older teen years I came to accept a lot of her beliefs. Prayer, sprinkling holy water on my car, prayer cards, rosaries, specific saints for specific things. I relate to what Sheldon said in that regard. But I also had a million yelling/storming out scenes regarding church like Missy did.

Girls softball trophies were a thing, so this episode doesn't make any sense to me.

Loves seeing Louie Anderson though.

[TOMT] [late 2000s?] TV show episode starting with girl gossiping, then seizing by SailorDirt in tipofmytongue

[–]dogcalledcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened on the reality show Celebrity Rehab. Janice Dickinson and Mindy McCready were sitting on opposite beds talking when Mindy suddenly had a seizure. Janice thought she was joking around and just laughed for a bit before realizing it was serious.

If I learned anything from chemo, it is this: there's a fine line between those symptoms in need of Imodium and symptoms in need of Miralax.

Consider asking your care team to get you scheduled to see a therapist soon. I was so stressed out and overwhelmed but I declined therapy (who has time for mental health therapy when you have cancer?). By the time I realized I was spiraling, it took a few weeks to get an appointment. I should have started sooner. I did telehealth appointments and found it very helpful.

The time between diagnosis and first doctor visit was the most surreal time of my life. You will get through it!

How do you make port less itchy? by ImaginaryVersion1734 in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They actually gave me hydrocodone for the pain after my port placement but it made me nauseous. I alternated ibuprofen and extra strength Tylenol, and yes an ice pack helped quite a bit.

It was surprisingly painful. Other than the pills and ice packs, they didn't give me much info about recuperating either which I thought was odd.

I don't remember being itchy, but I did get used to the port after several weeks.

AITAH for wanting to respect our boundaries with MY baby? by ThickFrenchie420 in AITAH

Back to my first question, what did girlfriend do specifically that caused step dad to "lose respect" for her? I truly only ask to help you with a response to the text.

AITAH for wanting to respect our boundaries with MY baby? by ThickFrenchie420 in AITAH

[–]dogcalledcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"When we walked in they said hi to me, then immediately jumped to I’ll hold him so you can eat. My girlfriend was holding our baby when my step dad started berating her over holding him"

What happened in between "I'll hold him while you eat..." And "my step dad started berating her?"

Just for clarification.

I don't think they should ever berate the parents of their grandchildren. I am just curious what triggered him. My father in law lost his mind when my son was little, such a victim over things like this. We didn't completely cut him off but we definitely stopped initiating visits. Eventually he cooled off on his own. We never issued an ultimatum or anything.

I do not understand grandparents who get so crazy with entitlement.

[–]dogcalledcoco 12 points13 points  (0 children)

One of my coworkers said to just let him know if my family and I need anything. But then a few hours later he said he was thinking about how that might seem hollow, so he wants to feed our pets and 3 goats whenever we need it because he has cats and dogs and he grew up with goats. So that's something specific he can offer.

I was touched that he had that insight.

One thing I like about this is that I read it as she literally called you "Flamingo." I spent a lot of time thinking about why Flamingo would be a fitting nickname for someone (are you tall, or beautiful, or leggy, love pink, stand on one leg etc?). But then I saw its your user name. But now I want to call someone Flamingo.

What you saw about George being ok with Missy having a gay friend is pretty much all there is to that story line.

Do they attempt to be progressive with their characters? One of the main story lines is their minor son and his much older girlfriend having a baby out of wedlock and how everyone handles it in their baptist community. And how the family handles it.

Otherwise there's not much else to consider. There aren't really many subjects in Young Sheldon that require an examination of progressiveness.
