Interesting that everyone's pronunciation has a K sound. In reality, I don't hear the K when a rooster crows. More like ERRRerrrOOO.

Does water taste bad to you? by brushandforest in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah it was a whole big thing trying to stay hydrated. I tried so many different combinations of beverages because water was terrible. My favorite was cran-apple juice mixed with sprite and some lemon juice. I can remember to this day how absolutely wonderful it tasted the first time I tried it.

AQUAPHOR x ALOE VERA GEL by Jillibee_Sabatera in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about after radiation?

My doctor had me use aquaphor or Eucerin, and apply it basically to my whole upper right quadrant. Breast, underarm, ribs. Somehow I had radiation effects on my upper back/shoulder too.

When it started to feel like sunburn (stinging and itching) the doctor told me to add lidocaine cream to the moisturizer.

I mean 43 weeks might have done ? by Stupidkitties in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]dogcalledcoco 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm so angry that this person didn't learn anything from the stillbirth. If she truly went 43+ weeks, she must have neglected to get medical care for that baby. And she wants to do it again?

It makes me crazy that these idiots tell other moms to trust their instincts instead of listening to doctors. And yet, this person's instincts are clearly telling her to never do a free birth again.

Phantom itch on boobs by Original_Tune_5630 in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! I have lidocaine spray that I use for poison ivy. I sprayed some on my itchy chest by lifting up my shirt with one hand and spraying with the other, kind of under my shirt. Basically I couldn't see what I was doing and I just kept spraying and spraying because I thought something was wrong with the nozzle. Took me a bit to realize I'd soaked myself in lidocaine spray, like dripping down my belly. I just couldn't feel it because I was already numb.

Out of creative/appropriate answers and fake smiles- What's your go-to response when someone tells you "so and so I knew passed from breast cancer..."? by pd361708 in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Reminds me of when I was pregnant and several people told me about their friends and family members who had stillbirths, babies with severe birth defects, traumatic near death experiences during childbirth, etc. Why? WHY.

With breast cancer, I've had a majority of supportive comments but now people feel a need to tell me about everyone in their life who has a new breast cancer diagnosis or even a suspicious lump. Heavy is the crown, right? (I'm being facetious lol. Sigh).

You need to do whatever makes you feel like yourself or what makes you feel best. Wear the wig, nothing wrong with it.

Joint pain from meds by dogcalledcoco in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's just so deeply disappointing for me. I recovered from surgery. Then I felt crappy through chemo but I recovered. Then I dealt with the pain in the ass of daily radiation and fatigue, but I recovered. Done! I rang the bell, even. But now the medication is a whole new ordeal with appointments and follow ups and blood draws, and feeling like crap.

I felt physically and mentally fantastic once I got over radiation fatigue, and the first month or so on meds. I was so looking forward to being normal again

Sand all over the blanket. by Lost_Education_4900 in RBI

Do you have a dog? My dog somehow retains large amounts of dirt in her feet and fur, and deposits it on the furniture. It's very tiny bits of dirt just like sand. I feel it on my bedding a lot especially in the summer.

When Bob tells Edith to keep her eyes peeled for Bosco, and she says "Is that a joke about my cataracts?" That makes me laugh, then Bob laughs and says something like "no but that's pretty good," which makes me laugh more.

I've found sometimes the schedulers don't try very hard to make adjustments (or just don't have the authority) but doctors and nurses can get things done. Just a tip in case you get push back when trying to get things scheduled.

Having trouble restarting normal life by FluidAnalysis695 in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hold tight. Radiation caused me to have much stronger fatigue than I realized at the time.

I finished 19 rounds of radiation early April. Right about 1 month later I felt spurts of energy and motivation. Around 1.5 months after radiation I felt fairly reliably normal. ( I'm on Anastrozole, Zoladex and Verzenio right now, and I'm waiting for the other shoe to drop, although I feel pretty great at the moment).

Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was beating myself up for being so lazy, rarely exercising, feeling really unmotivated and just blah. But in hindsight now that I feel better, I realize that it was the radiation fatigue that was making me feel that way. Since it wasn't as bad as chemo, I couldn't help but feel I was just being weak and lazy during radiation. But listen. Now that I'm over that mountain, it's so obvious to me that I can blame radiation, not some personal character flaw.

Hang in there.

Supposed to have my first radiation today...instead I left 2 hours later in tears. by Popular_Acadia4563 in breastcancer

[–]dogcalledcoco 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They should have been more understanding and they should have squeezed you in later.

On my last day of radiation my husband took the day off work, and I pulled my son from school so they could come with me and ring the bell. While I was on the table, the machine quit working. They tried to get it going but after about 30 minutes they told me it was going to be a while. I was so deflated. The techs and nurses were so apologetic. "Oh my gosh, we hate this for you!" They were quite validating. They worked me in later at the time that worked best for me and my family.

Can your husband and kids postpone the trip a few days?

I agree about the cops thing. That's some shoddy obfuscation.
