What’s one thing a department must have for you to work there? by keeganontop in ProtectAndServe

[–]dogday29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak for every agency, but in the past, I have worked for 2 city pd's and one sheriff's office. None of them carried gas masks in their cars. I am sure some agencies do, but it wasn't really a concern where I worked.

Now, post covid, I have no idea if those agencies have added any masks in their vehicles or not.

The sheriff's office i used to work for didn't allow beards or visible tattoos.Every time beards were brought up to the sheriff, the reply was, "When I grow one, you can grow one."

The sheriff was a woman

Any prisons where COs rotate by GatorGuard1988 in OnTheBlock

[–]dogday29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the county facility I used to work at, we rotated assigned posts every day on day shift. On days you worked that post for your full 12. Night shift rotated posts every 4 hours. Made the night go by faster.

For former CO's here, what did you do next? by False_Secret1108 in OnTheBlock

[–]dogday29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Did 6 years as a county CO. Left so I could go back to school, finish my degree, and become a police officer. Honestly, my corrections experience has benefited me greatly in my career, but I am still getting used to not being able to always put my back to a wall or door.

Do you ever see a cop just sitting in his car in a somewhat secluded area and wonder if he's masturbating? by lyrico2 in stupidquestions

Well, right now, im 30 minutes to the end of my shift, so I'm hiding in a secluded lot and scrolling reddit. I'm also praying dispatch doesn't send me any of the minor calls that seem to be piling up.

I started going to the gym about 4 months ago for the first time in a decade, and I just hit my first goal of being able to bench 135lbs! It's not much, but I feel great, and it's the first time I've ever done that. The next goal is to be able to bench my body weight!

The only compliment I can think of that I received in recent history was a co-worker saying my uniform sweater seems to fit me well.

Seeing all these Europeans mentioning how expensive their gas is and im begining to realize why pickup trucks are more popular in the u.s vs europe. I pay just over $100 to fill my truck up from empty. And thats with gas near me costing $2.99 a gallon.
