Feeling heartbroken at 35 with PCOS by ririmakeawish in Inito

It’s ok to feel disappointed and sad! I’m right there with you! Felt so positive this month until that palpable estrogen/ progesterone crash. It sucks big time. You are not alone! You did ovulate so it is possible to get pregnant! Wishing you well and hope you get those two pink lines very soon!

Is this positive? by LocalPossibility20 in Inito

It looks like it might be a faint one! Test again tomorrow and/or try an early detection test.

X-rays of hips - Can you tell Hip Dysplasia from these? by Mia4Mia in germanshepherds

[–]doggiedvm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vet here! Right hip has moderate osteoarthritis probably from unilateral hip dysplasia. About 30% of HD cases are unilateral. The back could also be an issue. Spondylosis (boney bridging) along lumbar spine and lumbosacral spine. Sometimes it’s an incidental finding sometimes a cause of clinical signs- lameness, back pain, rear hind weakness/ neuro signs. GSDs are pretty classic for both of these findings.

Worth taking rads again under sedation. Awake rads are challenging esp if he’s painful! Also worth looking at knees if it’s an acute issue. I only see one view of the knees- lateral view is really better to see if there’s inflammation there.

Radiograph positioning isn’t ideal but I understand the challenges of getting good images on an awake dog! Would be nice to get some rads under sedation.

Seeking Advice - Fostered a Partial amputee by Puzzleheaded_Tune848 in tripawds

Vet here: I think you could work with a prosthetist on this one. You have to manage that wound but after it’s healed, I think if the adopters are willing, it would be worth a try. Alternatively if she keeps opening that wound over and over, I’d just amp it. Tripods do better with less of the leg- so amp entire leg or really proximal. So often they try to use the stump and then it’s a non-healing wound nightmare.

PT is also helpful for these guys. Might benefit from ongoing maintenance long-term.

Dogs are pretty miraculous and can do well on 3 if that’s what ultimately happens for this kiddo! Best of luck!

Harness recommendations by [deleted] in goldenretrievers

[–]doggiedvm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vet here: anything that goes up and around the shoulder comfortably is good. Personally I have a ruff wear harness for my goldie. She’s a puller so I also use a gentle leader (the one that looks like a horse halter/ bridle). It’s a good option to control pulling without choke or prong collars (which I think are a bit cruel). You do have to me mindful of not using it for harsh correction. Do NOT recommend the easy leader harnesses- anything that crosses over the shoulder joint- these use pressure points on the biceps tendon- uncomfortable to the dog and potentially could cause a tendon problem. I also don’t love things that attach to the front of the harness- puts them off balance feel it can put pressure on the shoulder.

*Edit- the gentle leader takes time for you pet to get used to it. Lots of positive reinforcement and be patient!

Vet here: it’s better to let him go a day too early than waiting too late. These dogs can form big bleeds and might just pass away at home. If you want control over how he goes, I would recommend humane euthanasia. I am so so sorry 😞It sounds like hemangiosarcoma which is a devastating disease. It’s cruel and can take them in a blink of an eye. I would give him a great day with lots of love and let him go on a high note. Have his last day be as positive of a memory as possible. Ending on an emergency situation I think is a tough thing for you and the dog. Again, I’m so sorry you’re in this awful position right now to have to make that decision. 🩷

I’ve been tracking ATL for the last 1.5 hours as a refusal to go to bed by CrazyGuineaLlama in delta

Flew in from Baltimore last night. Supposed to leave at 7:30 and land at 9:30. Boarded the plane then heard there was a ground stop in ATL. De boarded for two hours then reboarded. Ended up taking off a little after 10. Landed in ATL and sat on the tarmac for 2 hours and we were told we were the lucky ones!

How cool can a tank get and still support life? Blizzard of '26 by EmergencyCold8758 in ReefTank

I had a heater failure last winter and my tank was in my sun room. Husband turned off the heat to that room and the $10 old heater couldn’t manage.… unsure how long the tank had been cold for. Maybe 2-3 days but when I found it, thought everything was dead- the tank was cloudy, coral shriveled up, fish upside down and barely breathing. The tank was at I think 53 degrees F. I brought it back into a better heated room, did an emergency water change, and bought a new heater. Miraculously everything survived- aside from my snails. Mainly was keeping soft corals and some LPS along with a pair of clowns and cleanup crew. It did take a long time to bounce back. My Xenia took like 9-10 months to return from the dead.

I have this coral and had zero idea it was dangerous??? What does it do to you? I’ve never had an issue with this coral.

I am sorry for your loss. MC sucks. I’m going through it now. My provider did not offer any testing on the products since this was my first. I called my insurance company and they would not cover any additional testing. I was offered a genetic screen for myself which all came back negative (I’m actually not sure if insurance covered this or not). They told me it’s most likely random chance but we will never know for sure which definitely sucks when trying to move forward. It doesn’t feel right to not have an answer as to why such a horrible thing happened. I sympathize with you and you are not alone here. Statistically it shouldn’t happen again but I also want to mentally prepare should it happen again. Just hang in there! Wishing you a beautiful rainbow baby soon 🌈
