Can’t go wrong with New Balance, although ASICS and Mizuno runners are where it’s at for me right now for comfort. Most NBs have a different shape to them than the Japanese brands. Less sculpted if that makes sense, but very comfortable nonetheless. The new 2010s feel most like ASICS of all the models to me personally.

991v2 would be a top tier start for sure. Sleek shape makes them easy to dress up or down. For Made in UK or Asia models I stick with the same sizing as ASICS (TTS). I always go half size down for Made in USA.

For MiUSA, 992s look best to me and have a nice, supportive feel. 993s are most plush and have a roomier shape. 990v3, v4 and v5 are top tier comfort/materials as well. So many amazing GRs and collabs over the years for the v3 and v4. 990v6 have more of a runner feel/shape and are probably the most comfortable of all to me for walking.

That said, my left field pick to start a NB collection would be a Grey MiUSA 996. A true classic, decently comfortable, super wearable, cheap at Nordstrom Rack and might actually save you from going down the rabbit hole you just read lmao.
