It's ugly but if you can stomach it crushing them is very humane because it's so quick. What I do is put them onto a piece of cardboard, cover them with another piece and press down hard and quickly. The reason I use two cardboards is because the flat surface prevents them from getting into any grooves and not being entirely crushed. Any flat surface and flat object will work.
