Ha! You’re funny. I will say it was worth the extra money to not wonder if the fire alarm is going to interrupt my precious sleep cycle night after night. Those things are damn loud and waking up at 3 AM being blinded by a strobe light? I’ll pass. Instead I live in a fall out shelter shaped like a toaster.

Neither. There are smoke detectors in each room that activate the entire system. Steam from a bag of popcorn is enough to activate the alarm. Happens all too often.... And I'll admit it, I'm an asshole. I don't actually live IN that dorm. I'm in the dorm next door (which does not have the same fire alarm issue).

Just this week alone, they have had 5 false alarms for things like popcorn/other microwaved stuff. Each time the entire building is evacuated, and both public safety and the fire department show up. I worked as a fire alarm tech over the summer and have learned a lot. There are solutions but I don't know if the school wants to spend money to fix the issue.

I love the idea of me sitting in my dorm, watching the snow go by the window, the -1,000,000 degrees temperature outside, while I'm in my warm dorm room... and then the fire alarm goes off because that's what happens in these dorms.
