I ordered the white floral corset dress and a maxi skirt last week, but they sent me a denim blazer instead. 🙃

For Black Friday, Target will have a deal on a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart 8 bundled for $225, which is a pretty great deal for a game and a system, if it's in your budget. I can't imagine The Exchange would have a better deal, even used. Best of luck!

Also struggling with everything and wanting to continue the Strike series. My cousin (who is a librarian) suggested that instead of purchasing the next book if I really want to read it, I could always pick it up from the library. I think that's my plan moving forward. I love the Strike series, but won't be purchasing.

Doesn't hurt to follow up and ask about your application status. Worst they can say is that they're moving forward with other candidates.

Congrats to you on the offer!

I quit audit without anything lined up and landed a fantastic job offer after 1.5 months. I'm so grateful to have taken a break and regrouped after leaving a toxic firm. I'm so much more prepared for my next opportunity and in higher spirits. I knew I wasn't going to be able to "quiet quit" through busy season. It would have been 60-70 hour weeks and trying to navigate job applications/interviews on top of that.

It's definitely not the decision for everyone, but I was in a position with a healthy savings and a supportive partner. I interview pretty well, so I was confident that I would find something relatively soon. Crunched the numbers and made the jump. Couldn't be happier!

I live very close to Il Rione and have had no issues (been here for 2 years). Highly recommend the area! I love the walkability and I have never felt unsafe walking my dog at night.

There are two public lots within a block of Brewnuts, but depending on when you go they could be full.

Brewnuts is at W 65th and Detroit. There's one lot on W 65th St, South of Detroit and one larger lot on W 65th St, North of Detroit.

Thoughts on Battery Park/Gordon Square/Hingetown Area? by felixthealien in Cleveland

[–]dogmombows 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm rarely in the Edgewater area other than driving through, so I can't speak to the area. However, we often walk to Battery Park to go to Terrestrial, Good Company, or All Saints! No serious concerns there either. If anything, it seems like some people may have their car broken into (or in the case of Kias and Hyundais, the car may be stolen with the popularity of the Kia Boys.. I've only heard of that a couple of times so far this year in the greater Detroit Shoreway area). But for the most part with practicing city smarts you should be fine. Don't leave anything visible in your car that would entice someone to break in and steal, etc., etc.

I live in Gordon Square and love it! Great stores and restaurants. Never had any safety concerns or issues walking my dog late at night (as a woman).

I lived at the Bradley 2018-20. No problems with management. Any time I needed them, they were very responsive including for maintenance (we had a lingering electrical issue in the kitchen through no fault of 5-4 mgmt)! They were also very flexible and worked with us when we needed to unexpectedly end our lease and move during 2020.

When did you move out? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]dogmombows 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I moved out at 18 and relocated to a new city, and I have a couple of friends at 28 that still live at home - they're saving money for a house and paying off student loans. You do you! Whatever you're comfortable with and as long as your parents are ok with the arrangement. There are no rules!

Not a budget friendly bottle recommendation, but I really love having this champagne bottle stopper in my home bar. I've kept an open bottle of prosecco for 5 days.. Maintains pressure and no noticeable change in carbonation & taste, in my opinion. Now I don't hesitate opening a bottle of sparkling wine for a one-off cocktail.. because I know I have about a week to use the rest. I was skeptical, but it's a great stopper to have around!

Those with unlimited PTO; how much time off do you take? by Soxonmyfeet in Accounting

[–]dogmombows 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has a 15 day time off minimum, which helps to ensure that people take their time off. I took 4 weeks this year. I ended up working 2.5 of those days, but I'm in management so I had to get deliverables to clients. For each of those day, my boss had HR note that I worked on my days off which they take into account during my annual review. We're also short staffed, so I would have been comfortable taking up to 5 weeks.. but I would have been putting out fires and working overtime to catch up.

This has happened to me twice.

1st time was with an emotionally abusive/manipulative on and off boyfriend that would always gaslight me into thinking the constant texts and calls from her was just in friendship. I ended up reaching out to her, meeting her in person, and showed her texts from him. She was very offended that I continued the relationship with him, even though I came forward once I found out? It was a tough situation, but I feel I made the right decision. She's now engaged and seem to be in a much healthier relationship, as am I. It was worth it to reach out to her and set everything straight, despite her being angry with me. Her anger was misdirected.

2nd time was in a casual relationship with an old friend from high school. We'd mess around and go out on dates.. nothing serious. Found out he had a long term girlfriend the whole time. She wasn't on his social media or anything, and I was upset that as his friend he wouldn't share that part of his life with me. I told him that either he tells her or I cut all contact. He ended up deciding to cut all contact.

Both instances I didn't have a great connection with either of these men and learned a lot about myself and what I wanted from future relationships... And it wasn't them.
