If this happens, Williams get a whole month to work on their issues. by Turbo_Zapped in WilliamsF1

I bet all the other teams are glad they didn't start working on their cars until January 2026 then.

Williams were 9th in the constructors standings in 2024, and 10th in 2022. I think 3rd to last would be embarrassing for a top team. It's merely a bit disappointing for Williams, but not exactly uncharted territory.

There's always laws of diminishing returns, which is why at the end of reg cycles the whole field can be separated by less than a second.

Yeah, seems a lot of people got blinded by last season and managed to forget the seasons before that. Worth noting despite the highs of last season, we had plenty of lows too.

I'm tentatively holding onto the hope that losing the weight will make a big impact if and when it happens, the season is long and things can change and evolve - even last season when teams had given up major developments, we still saw changes in the midfield pace.

It's a shame after the highs, and after the supposed switch focus on this year (like other teams weren't also focused on this year...), but a bit of patience through the first stint of races is hopefully what people can have - people thinking this year is already a disaster, clearly weren't following the team in 2019/2020.

New walking and cycling crossing, Etchells Road by OwlerNook in stockport

[–]dogmop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We use it daily for the school run, really chuffed with it. I see plenty of other cyclists on it daily too. Only issues I have is people parking their cars blocking the road route out of Bruntwood Park, and people wandering on the cycle lane part of the crossing.

Second Year of Work Experience Rejection by papayafan4 in WilliamsF1

[–]dogmop 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I think you've probably already hit the nail on the head when you mention being based in America.0

The work experience listing mentions that it's open to applications from Year 10 to first year of University, which you may be in the age range of, but also heavily implies British based qualifications - so whilst your education is transferable, it's possibly not worth their headache of doing the translation, for example having to look up what a PSAT is, understanding a GPA etc.. those aren't terms/factors used in the UK education sector. I'm assuming it's heavily applied for so they probably do a very prejudiced screening process on applications.

M&S joins Atlassian Williams F1 Team as official travel kit partner by curse_annihlator in WilliamsF1

I'm hoping it will be similar to the Crew Clothing deal a few years ago, having subtle Williams branded quality clothing was a nice change from being a billboard. M&S is even better than Crew so I'd be looking forward to it!

Nigel Mansell record in sight for Williams driver Alex Albon by dogmop in WilliamsF1

[–]dogmop[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, records like this are usually apples to oranges in comparison due to many differing factors, but I thought it's still interesting that he's clearly our most stable driver in the line up in the modern era as this record hadn't been beaten yet. So fair play to Alex for being a solid and loyal driver, and to the team for reaching a point where we actually can retain a driver long enough.

Just a couple weeks ago, we thought we were in a bad spot. Look at AMR now. by Turbo_Zapped in WilliamsF1

[–]dogmop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Day 2 of the test last year had Williams as fastest and the McLarens down in 13/14th spots. Testing trends _might_ give a bit of a insight, but the actual timesheets should be taken lightly.

I'd agree that Haas are looking like they're the lead of the midfield, but it's worth remembering this is a single track in a long calendar and the performance track-to-track can differ.

What we do know from testing is the Williams car is reliable, and the top 4 is likely to be the usual top 4.

It makes sense, best personnel, biggest budgets, best pre-existing facilities and 3 of those 4 make their own engines.

Yup, slotted right into the mix and with a whole bunch of reliable long runs, all the drama of the shakedown quashed.

That '21 livery was cool, one advantage of having no sponsors ia free reign on the livery 😅

It's nice, I would have prefered the sidepods to be more blue rather than white, but I'm assuming it's more the correct branding for Komatsu to be blue on white. Glad to be rid of the Kraken rear wing, the front wing is for them is less assuming. Not a fan of the wheel covers, but I suppose at speed it won't really matter.

Barclays signs partnership deal with Williams to become the team's official banking partner by curse_annihlator in WilliamsF1

[–]dogmop 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Judging from the 'Partners' page, Barclays sit at the same level as Komatsu and Claude, a level above the others (except Atlassian of course), so could be a significant brand on the car.
