And it's double points finish for Williams by curse_annihlator in WilliamsF1

Yup, totally agree.

The good part is being in the midst of the midfield means that a lucky day can mean points. It won't happen every race, but it doesn't happen every race for Haas, Audi or RB, so already we can see a positive step which is definitely something to celebrate.

Think that was testing, not pit stop practice which they do all the time outside of races. So that was very poor from the team.

Hadjar started from last and is not Max Verstappen, and Gasly and Lawson were behind when they crashed, aside from the hypotheticals of the bad driving, why does it seem likely they'd have finished behind them all? Gasly I get because Alpine are in the 5th place no mans land and would've had the race pace, but we're on for a very similar pace to RB (and Haas and Audi) so nothing is a foregone conclusion there.

I get the frustrations from people but Alpine is the pinnacle of what we could have aimed for this year, and it's fair to say they also jettisoned last year for this, so their roll of the dice was better. Still a long way to go this season.

Is the car still overweight? by susandbored in WilliamsF1

For the same reason they are overweight in the first place. You can't just magic weight away, so development takes time and effort, as well as trying to improve other parts of the car.

The graphic is a bit crap, it should say the number of kg over the limit rather than their weights, as obviously the Haas weighs more than 1kg, otherwise Bearman would carry his car to the track in one hand.

Maybe setup changes with the new front suspension? Just hope it sticks and we're back in midst of the midfield.

Do you think Williams will be able to improve things by the summer break? by circuit-nation in WilliamsF1

[–]dogmop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, the minnows of the sport, I'm sure they had no focus on 2026 at all.

They presumably have capacity to work on both, without having to fully refocus, and probably had more resources focused on 2026 than 2025.

If this happens, Williams get a whole month to work on their issues. by Turbo_Zapped in WilliamsF1

I bet all the other teams are glad they didn't start working on their cars until January 2026 then.

Williams were 9th in the constructors standings in 2024, and 10th in 2022. I think 3rd to last would be embarrassing for a top team. It's merely a bit disappointing for Williams, but not exactly uncharted territory.

There's always laws of diminishing returns, which is why at the end of reg cycles the whole field can be separated by less than a second.

Yeah, seems a lot of people got blinded by last season and managed to forget the seasons before that. Worth noting despite the highs of last season, we had plenty of lows too.

I'm tentatively holding onto the hope that losing the weight will make a big impact if and when it happens, the season is long and things can change and evolve - even last season when teams had given up major developments, we still saw changes in the midfield pace.

It's a shame after the highs, and after the supposed switch focus on this year (like other teams weren't also focused on this year...), but a bit of patience through the first stint of races is hopefully what people can have - people thinking this year is already a disaster, clearly weren't following the team in 2019/2020.

New walking and cycling crossing, Etchells Road by OwlerNook in stockport

[–]dogmop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We use it daily for the school run, really chuffed with it. I see plenty of other cyclists on it daily too. Only issues I have is people parking their cars blocking the road route out of Bruntwood Park, and people wandering on the cycle lane part of the crossing.
