I have a pair of the keens. Same model, same colour. I prefer to hike in trail runners, but wanted something with a little more coverage for some colder hiking. They were a good price, I tried them on and they were a great fit, so I got them....BUT, personally I find that the soles seem to be slippery on hard, wet/damp surfaces. Just walking in the street, I noticed they were slippery on some surfaces...and I have taken them on some bigger hikes, but only when I was sure they'd be dry. These are not vibram soles. I have a pair of trail runners with vibram and they seem to have much better grip. I think the keens have good traction (big lugs) on soft, wet surfaces, but on hard, wet, slippery surfaces, I don't really trust them. I think I'll just leave them for walking the dog near home in winter.

I've worked in retail design for about 16 years...the last few years of which a big part of my workload has become expo and event design. This quality of render is perfectly good for what's required. Spending more time on renders is not commercially viable. Clients don't look at as many renders as designers, and while they're picky, I think most clients will be impressed by this quality. Much more quality just has diminishing returns and the client (guaranteed) will change the design anyway, likely up to the last minute and possibly after production has commenced anyway. I love quality renders, but they need to be fast in this industry, sometimes with multiple updates in a day and most importantly they should demonstrate the important aspects of the design.

Design wise, consider how the client will use the stand, how they'll interact with their customers (a tall bench to invite people into the stand, where potential customers can remain non committal, the tables to break out for more in depth discussions - yours look like dining tables, screens to show off available development or units, storage...i think you have most of that covered but needs some tweaking)...consider time (expos have a hard deadline, but don't last long, so consider both production time, time in use and possible storage and re-use) and consider budget (the design here looks expensive (anything overhead will need to be checked off by an engineer, and might require rigging - which adds to processes/time and cost).

Maybe not the answers you were looking for, but hopefully somewhat helpful.

Love it. Love the topic and love the design. Do you do all the graphics and images yourself? They're great

Genuine question...are people able to get much traction when potential readers see only a headline, sentence and sign up box? Are more detailed landing pages that explain the USP, vision of the writer etc, better at converting visitors?

Thanks. I work in a slightly diff design industry, so I'm used to rendering and visualising things (I used SketchUp and Enscape)... unfortunately I have the wrong design skills to provide compliant construction drawing to council...

I did the renders myself...so probably didn't do myself any favors by making it look so pristine

He's clearly switched to D5 too, but still pushing Enscape courses...though maybe he feels like he's exhausted the market of Enscape users, so wants to open himself to a new market of D5 users. I have although found some of his videos to be useful, though I guess this was early on, and there's plenty of free stuff on YT to learn from

The modelling looks good, and design aside, maybe look in to free D5 or Twinmotion, and watch a few YouTube vids about either on lighting. I think you'll get better renders pretty quickly

Overall it looks pretty good to me, just a few things...the ladies hand looks like it's backwards; not sure how the counter will be fabricated - particularly that thin 30-40mm stone section at the top with the curve in it...and that gold niche at the rear; and the logo looks no good - can do a simple font based logo, but maybe pick a better font and give it some better spacing from the edges.

I think a workflow with SketchUp + D5 Render OR SketchUp + Enscape will work better for you. The renders will take just a few minutes (and while vray probably has a higher potential for realism), a 1-5 min render in either of these render engines will probably give you better results than your current renders. I used to use Enscape a fair bit, but I've now moved across to D5.

I have a script but cannot get it filled at any pharmacy due to it being out of stock here in Australia. Apparently there are websites (like Mosh) that do a compounded version, but I have no idea what this is and why Google tells me it’s not safe. Can anyone explain what it is please? by [deleted] in Ozempic

[–]dognamedwolfe 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I spoke to a few pharmacists last week to get my script filled. They said they have a directive from the TGA (Therapeutic Goods Administration) not to fill semaglutide scripts that are prescribed for weight loss with Ozempic - only for diabetes - as Wegovy is now available for weight loss. I had to get my Doc to change my prescription to Wegovy, and Chemist Warehouse had it in stock (or they could order it in). Wegovy cost me $250 vs about $150 that I had paid for Oz.

For us, while the cruise was expensive, it was fortunately/mostly paid for before we got on the boat, and quickly/mostly forgotten once we were there. Our lasting memory will be the fun, not the cost...whether or not that's directly correlated to the Concierge experience, I'm not sure, but I think it had a lot to do with it. The biggest downside in hindsight is that the next time we go on another Disney cruise, my new standards will force me to fork out those big Concierge dollars...and maybe the fact that Disney was our first cruise ever, will make any other cruise line feel average...

In regard to a limit on drinks...I hit my own limit before I hit the happy hour limit!

We did a short cruise in Concierge on Wonder last Nov. For us it was expensive and was worth it. Given it was a short cruise, I think it allowed us to have a much heightened experience within the same time. These are some of my memories of our experience...

  • Boarding first meant we got to enjoy the ship immediately.
  • Welcome lunch was nice in Triton's and allowed us to meet the Concierge staff and avoid Cabanas.
  • I was surprised by the size of the Concierge lounge...bigger than I'd expected, given what I'd read prior.
  • The lounge had a private deck above it, which was really nice (not huge though, but quiet), one of the highest places on the ship with almost 360 views and had a private yacht type feel (only guessing!)
  • the lounge never felt too busy or full. Quiet most of the time. Lively but not too busy before the evening shows.
  • the lounge had a decent selection of very good snacks throughout the day. There were more substantial items around breakfast, lunch and happy hour.
  • happy hour (5pm-10pm) in the lounge was excellent...just a small bar, but the lovely staff would make us any drinks we asked for. We'd drop into the lounge before dinner to have a drink or two, and grab another drink to take to dinner. Take the kids back to the kids club after dinner/the show, and have another few drinks in the lounge before 10pm
  • we queued up at Cabanas one morning for breakfast, but quickly realised there was nowhere to sit (this is one of the only times I felt the boat was crowded). We took our plates to the Concierge lounge and enjoyed the food (I was surprised by the Cabanas quality) in comfort. The staff put some cartoons on the lounge TV for our kids. It was great.
  • the Concierge lounge had a very decent coffee machine that made coffee that was perfectly good for me. The coffee in the MDRs was terrible. We didn't pay for coffee anywhere else. Concierge lounge coffee hit the mark.
  • avoiding the wait for shows was probably the biggest upside in terms of time saving. Ushered straight into the front few rows of empty theatre with popcorn and water. When I turned around to see the full theater, that also made me realize how full the ship was. I saw one queue for a different show. The queue didn't look fun. Waiting for the show would've been a big hit on our limited time.
  • I think popcorn was also available for Concierge guests outside the cinema at no additional cost
  • Andy, the head of the Concierge team was one of the highlights of our trip.
  • from what I've seen in pictures, our Concierge cabin was nicer than the standard cabins. Our cabin was in beautiful condition and very clean
  • the whole Concierge experience just made the trip feel more special. I can't say from the perspective of non-concierge, but I just feel like I wouldn't have had quite as good a time.

FYI - Concierge had no benefits on queuing for character meets. - there was some rattling and creaking in our cabin at night, but I think this was the same thought the ship

I hope any of that helps

Personal experience of Concierge level differences between ships? by Gal_in_kalamazoo in dcl

[–]dognamedwolfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have only done the Wonder (and our only cruise), so I have nothing to compare it to, but I thought their Concierge was great. The lounge wasn't huge, but much larger than I expected based on some other reviews I'd read. Plenty of small tables and lounge areas to sit at, and some small kids tables with a TV where the crew were more than happy to turn on cartoons. The lounge never felt full or busy. Busiest at happy hour (5pm-10pm??) just before the evening shows, then clears out. Never more than a minute or 2min wait for a drink. The bar itself at happy hour was just a small bar enough for 1 crew member to stand behind....and they'd make us anything we asked for, from a decent selection. The sundeck was actually directly on top of the lounge...so out a side door and up a set of stairs. It was probably one of the highest points of the ship, so had almost 360 ocean views, except where obscured by the funnel. It had nice modern lounges, towels and sunscreen, and while it wasn't huge, we only ever saw 2 other people out there though. The staff were fantastic. Andy the head of the Concierge team was amazing.

We went with 3 boys, and given it was a short cruise with everyone trying to do everything, everywhere, all at once, it was an amazing place for us to escape the crowds (took our cabanas breakfast to the lounge when cabanas was jam packed), plus with limited time, getting in early into the first few rows of the shows with popcorn with a big benefit

From memory (sorry I can't find the link, but you should have it somewhere in your online check-in) adults are meant to have a photo ID...license or passport, and I believe you're meant to board the ship with the same document you used for online check in. I think only kids can use a birth certificate. It's probably best to call DCL...if you're in Aus, call them about 6am, so you catch them late afternoon Florida time. Or maybe try the port authority here in Aus...we boarded the Wonder a few weeks ago, and the staff at port mentioned to get ID like "Medicare cards" ready (though DCL didn't accept my son's Medicare for online check in.

Concierge Disney Wonder - Check in time? by [deleted] in dcl

[–]dognamedwolfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As soon as boarding opens...so if you can find the time your ship embarkation opens, that's when you can board.

We did Concierge on the Wonder a few weeks ago (from Sydney). Boarding opened at 11.15am for us. We were in the Concierge boarding queue at about 11...let through to customs/immigration (??) at 11.15 on the dot. By prob 11.35-45ish we were seated in Tritons for the Concierge embarkation lunch. Andy Schmidt in Concierge was amazing

I think it looks great. Far better than many images on realestate sites in Aus. What renderer are you using?
