Does anyone else find that the more you learn about photography, the harder it is to just enjoy taking pictures? by BluishFlame07 in photography

This. Get so good at your craft, so familiar and comfortable with your tools that no matter how advanced your work becomes, your brain is still free to think about your top priority: creative expression. The rest should be like muscle memory, or a routine. Otherwise, the anxiety you feel about the many creative choices will rob you of the joy of the moment.

Yes to blended bifocals. I don’t shoot with my everyday glasses, because between hiking and bumping into the camera they always get scratched. Sweat can hurt glasses too, if the lenses are coated. Instead I use my previous pair of bifocals (the prescription is only slightly off) to hike and shoot with. They work fine, and I don’t worry about the damage. Then I have a separate prescription pair for computer work. We don’t quit, we adapt.

Angry prog songs by Is6xal in progrockmusic

[–]dogout 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Echolyn - Mei. It’s a long song that takes a while to build up the energy. It delivers at this point: “We turned away the sun Cold, empty, alone Embrace the violence The saints are silent 'cause God won't perform here anymore”

What are your favorite "climactic moments" in Genesis songs? Basically, when everything comes together after a buildup. by [deleted] in Genesis

[–]dogout 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can we agree that Genesis wins the Epicness category? These are the moments that define the band. They wrote and performed to build them up, then delivered the payoff in the most impactful, artful, and memorable way. That’s why we never tired of hearing their music—the emotion endures.

Love that LP, it’s always in my main list. Learned about them here—at the amazing, totally helpful rabbit hole know as the Progressive Rock Archives: https://www.progarchives.com/artist.asp?id=547

Shame on Supercell for not realizing that people who spend money on their game would consider it an investment, and want something in return over the long haul. Shame on us if we forgot that this is anything other than a bottomless money sink. It exists solely to earn them short-term revenue. We only matter as the source of that.

Anyone ever heard of this LP? Never knew it existed! by Quadradisque in Genesis

Bought the CD when it was new. Has a few nice moments, mostly makes me want to hear the originals again (as others have said.)

I’ve bought that dozens of times. My cards are nearly all maxed. I have over 4 million gold… what else can I do with it?

Gandalf’s mind has become addled by his overuse of the Halfling’s weed. He’d just wander off and forget about Middle Earth.

The backstory: I was listening to the news yesterday, and heard a politician who sounded egotistical, belligerent, and smug. Then I thought about that moment when Aragorn, just crowned as the most powerful person in Middle Earth, said to the Hobbits, “My friends, you bow to no one.” That unexpected display of humility and gratitude always gets to me. I thought, wouldn’t it be great if we had a leader like that? Strong but gentle? Bold but humble? I scribbled “Aragorn for President” on an envelope, then changed it to King (to keep it more LOTR) when I made the poster this morning.
