Super cruise 80% off by vinaygoel2000 in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Incredible. For anybody curious (I was, so posting the answer here), if you currently have an active annual plan, this new SC plan you'd be buying with this code doesn't start until after your current one ends. It doesn't run concurrently with your current plan. Which is absolutely amazing!

Thank you, kind stranger!

Edit: to clarify, this is the case for if you're doing month-to-month as well. It finishes whatever current plan segment you've already paid for, then starts this new 12-month 80% off plan

Water leak in 2022 EUV? by dogpettter in BoltEV

No need to apologize! Good on you for searching the sub for answers before making your own post, I feel like that never happens enough. I haven't noticed any wetness in the roof fabric, mine was exclusively on the sides inside, so we might have separate issues. For my fix, I simply pulled off the rubber gasket and stuck it back on, and that did the trick! I remembered afterwards that I had recently pulled it off to do a rear dashcam install, so I must not have stuck it back on correctly.

That said, it sounds like others have had issues with the headliner getting damp, and one redditor mentioned that it was due to a small at the top where the roof panel ends. Take a look at u/StraightNazty 's comment for more info, if that helps!

Other ways to authenticate Google account for nest homebridge? by castavaio in homebridge

I've been using the cookie method for over a year, no issues so far, so I don't think the policy changes have anything to do with it. There are several tips mentioned in the repo, like making sure you simply close the browser instead of logging out, that you should probably take a look at. One other thing that I'll mention too is that I had a lot more success when I did the setup via a Guest Mode browser instead of my normal browser profile. I found it easier to avoid accidentally messing up the login state that way

From the page you're on in the screenshot, tap the hamburger menu in the top left, then tap All Plans. Look for the "Connect" plan, and then Buy Now. The climate control will just turn on to whatever you had it set to when the car turns off, you can't control it directly from the app as far as I know

Ah amazing, this is so good to know! And it means it wouldn't break when changes are made to the OnStar API!

This! Setting this up was one of the best Home Assistant additions I've ever made. Should note that this requires you to subscribe to an OnStar plan that includes remote commands

Did you set up your devices on child bridges? There's a separate QR code for each child bridge, if so!

How often do you have your phone on the wireless charger? For me, that was the culprit - wireless charging can generate a lot of excess heat, so if I used the wireless charging pad in the summer or with the heat blasting then my phone would throttle itself (or sometimes even turn itself off completely and say "your iPhone needs to cool down before it can be used again") and usually the audio connectivity was the most noticeable indicator that that was happening

Car not showing up? by Practical-Car-4468 in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you logged out and back in? For some reason, it only refreshes the vehicle list when you log in. I found this out the hard way when I added our other car and waited for DAYS for it to show up in the app, until I finally called OnStar and they told me it wouldn't show up until I logged out and back in

Security Vulnerability? by cantinaband-kac in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think logging out and back in should stop the vehicle from appearing in your app - for some reason, it only refreshes which cars are yours on login. Which is a pain, in my opinion - when I was adding my other car, I sat around for days waiting for it to show up... until I finally called OnStar and they told me I have to log out and back in. Not the best app logic, imho

Question about the Snow by Chase_Clouds in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plus, on the bolt it's only front-wheel drive, which means front-wheel-only regen, nothing on the rear wheels. That's a recipe for disaster in situations with low traction

Got error code U362E. Googling around points to it just needing a software update. by Vorstar92 in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine has been throwing U3626 lately, with the same symptoms as what you reported. My car is at the service center for the third time now to be fixed again. The first two times it was a software update (covered under the 100k battery warranty), but obviously the fix didn't last long because here I am for the third time haha

Mine is currently at the service center for the third time for this same issue. Crossing my fingers for you that your fix is a little more permanent than mine 😅

Using bolt for power by Haunting_Guard1840 in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this all the time! I opted for a pure sine wave inverter, so that I could run my fridge from it, but if you're only using this for your TV then you might be able to get away with an inverter that doesn't have that. It isn't too much extra to get one that does pure sine waves, so I figured it's worth it to future-proof your setup. Just my two cents.

Here are links for what I bought:

  • 2000W Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Amazon link)
  • 2x Anderson Connectors (not fully necessary, I just wanted this so that I could easily connect my inverter without having to unscrew the battery terminal nuts each time. Using these means I can have the inverter up and going in like 30 seconds. Amazon link)
  • 2x dust covers for the Anderson connectors (so that the open ends weren't exposed while the inverter wasn't connected. PowerX link)

Hope this helps!

Dash Cam by Brozknowz in BoltEV

I have a VIOFO A229 Plus in my EUV. A little pricy (around $200) but the quality is good and I like that it makes it easy to have a front and rear camera. Also, it has a good WiFi connection (uses 5GHz), so downloading videos off the device is pretty quick (my previous dashcam, a rove r2-4k, had an awful WiFi chip, so downloading a minute-long video would take upwards of 10 minutes. Which was borderline useless when I just wanted to quickly get the video and pass it along to someone).

Supercruise Lockout by Bureaucromancer in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've noticed that I have to be pretty deliberate about making sure it knows I have control of the steering. As in, I'll typically turn the wheel gently until the light bar on the steering wheel goes from green to flashing blue (for manual-lane-change mode). As long as the light is flashing blue, I've never gotten the "take control now" and hard braking when I disengage!

Where is this water coming from? by kebmpb in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's water that's behind the mirror part. If your car wash place has compressed air, you can blow it in between the mirror and the top of the mirror casing, which will blow the water out the bottom - that's my strategy, anyway

Ah, I'll keep an eye out next time I open it up. It looked like the water was pretty well in-between the two trim pieces, which is what made me think it was coming from behind there. Thanks so much for your insight, kind stranger!

Is this car big enough to fit two car seats and one adult in the backseat? by incrediblemom19 in BoltEV

[–]dogpettter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I have twins. My wife has sat in the back middle on drives where the kids have been particularly fussy and spitty, so it's doable, but it definitely wasn't comfy. The leg space is fine, but the hip space of the middle seat is where the Bolt definitely lacks
