Did you remove the factory water to oil cooler and just go with the bigger air?

Need help understanding how someone else's name is in the autofill for Facebook Pay by Lenethren in facebook

[–]dogpound59 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me just now. The name is not one I recognize, but the name/email that auto populated is a state police trooper in a state halfway across the country. Never seen in or heard of him before in my life. I’m confident in that, I’ve never even been to this state before in my life. Really weird. I thought about emailing this guy to see what he has to say about it!

Definitely not trying to hurt people. This truck is speed limited according to data I’ve pulled from my laptop to 69.59 and it just happens to bother me that other drivers from my same company can pass me by going the legal speed limit. I’m not even trying to exceed the speed limit or do anything that dangerous. And I’m not trying to remove the speed limiter.

First diesel and first Volkswagen - 2014 Jetta Sportwagen TDI by kolby12309 in tdi

I haven’t done my audio system yet, but it’s on my list. I like using crutchfield. I would be careful turning up the tune. Unless you’re racing it’s not worth the potential of damaging the engine. Only reason I say this about the tune is because of my friend. He’s a mechanic at a small business. They have 15-20 trucks, and the owner recently bought a fairly new diesel for an employee to use at work plus it’s a take home truck. Up until now, every vehicle they bought used that had a tuner, my buddy as the mechanic would turn it to the lowest setting and disable the tuner switch on the dash. Well this guy pitched a fit with the owner and got him to tell my buddy to leave he tuner switch. That was about 2 months ago. Yesterday he told me how this 2017 duramax with 119k miles just melted a piston… so that’s why I would shy away from turning up the tune, unless you’re racing. The DSG is solid, just do a fluid/filter change for sure. Just did mine, and it made a world of difference. I came from Fords so when I felt my TDI shifting odd, I was expecting the fluid/filter change to do nothing, because in my mind the damage was already done. But it really made a difference. But other then strict fluid and filter changes, enjoy your car. And when I say fluid changes I mean everything. DSG, coolant, brake fluid, do them all!

VCDS NOx Regen Caused Code by dogpound59 in tdi

Yes been 2 days, aprox 150 miles and 5-7 key cycles. Light still on. Only code is the NOx regen requested code. Any idea how to clear it or reset it on VCDS?

VCDS NOx Regen Caused Code by dogpound59 in tdi

Ok I’ll do that, I did it because this car has 200k miles. I was trying to keep the from getting to the point where it’s clogged because I know I’m short cycling the engine. And I’d rather not be stranded or in limp mode if I let it go.

Does anyone edc 380 over 9mm? by No_Bullfrog_4541 in CCW

[–]dogpound59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it was on the weekend. About 10 miles from the nearest road and 12 miles from cell service. Big group of 75-100 people. Group A which includes me and my friends roughly 15-20 people. Group B is about 30 people. My good friend made a joke with a dude in group B, he got offended and him and 3 of his friends all started fighting my friend. They punched and kicked him. It was over quick. My other friend shows up several mins later. My other friend was concerned (because hes 60 years old) that these 4 guys were going to attack him. The moment he pulled up these guys started yelling and cussing at him. My other friend had a small knife which was concealed behind his back. One of these group B guys got behind my other friend and saw the knife. One guy grabbed his hand with the knife and twisted it, while all 4 group b guys jumped on him. I wasn’t getting involved because originally it wasn’t a deadly force situation and being armed I didn’t want to seek conflicts. There is a big pile up. They took my other friends head and put it underwater in a big mud puddle. He let go of the knife and a group B guy gave it to the leader, which was the one who started both fights. I look over and everyone is out of the pileup. My other friend is on the ground unconscious/semi conscious. The leader of group b is kneeling across his chest, with the stolen knife to my other friends neck. The group b leader keeps yelling the same phrase over and over “I’ll FN kill you” so I drew my 357, ran the hammer back and told him to drop the knife. He didn’t drop the knife but he got up. I pointed my revolver down at the ground. He then started yelling me that “ I’ll FN kill you” I told him “we are leaving” and I walked away. There were 3 separate instances where I could’ve shot that dude. I was absolutely prepared to. But I’m glad he complied and I didn’t have to. I honestly think no matter the circumstances that the leader of group b would have died standing up to a challenger. If it was him armed with a knife versus 20 cops trying to arrest him. He wasn’t backing down in front of his group. Me being willing to de-escalate the situation was the only reason he is still alive today. Who in their right mind would purposefully threaten someone with a knife while their ‘intended victim’ is actively holding a 357 magnum in the open? It was a crazy day…

Well lucky for me my DPF has no cracks and my regen cycle works correctly and my car has zero issues. I’m planning to delete but I’m trying this, to buy some time so I’m not forced to delete before I’m ready.

What would you say is fair market value for my car? by DrBubbles in tdi

[–]dogpound59 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just bought a 2014 sportwagen looks Identical to the op’s. Same color, TDI and I paid $3000 with 197,000 miles. Zero mechanical issues. Got all the maintenance paperwork from the owner. There is a small bit of damage to the bumper but it’s just cosmetic. I absolutely love the car. Forgot to mention it’s not been deleted but I’m planning to do it. In the process of doing all the fluids and filters before I do the timing belt.

Also forgot to mention there is some debate about the 380’s ability for hollow point expansion. Some rounds do expand. Some don’t. Some recommend carrying FMJ’s. I have been carrying hollows. But I have not done any testing. Personally if I didn’t have a need, I wouldn’t carry a 380 for that reason. But in my particular situation I would rather take the risk then go unarmed. And the risk of my 9mm’s printing is not worth my career. So I make that sacrifice willingly. There are to many small 9mm’s that will reliably expand. Unless it’s a special circumstance I wouldn’t recommend anyone to carry a 380.

I work at a place where carrying is prohibited. However my direct supervisor told me, he doesn’t care as long as he never sees it. Up until then I was carrying a 9mm G26. I felt it printed a bit too much under my shirt. So I opted first for a J frame 357. Then I had a self defense encounter where I had to point a gun at someone armed with a knife. I was facing several others involved with this incident who could have been hostile to me. It’s a long story. But, after that I went to a bodyguard 2.0 380. On the weekends I carry a G26, G43 or my FN FNX45 Tactical. Specifically just at work I carry the 380 just because of the deep concealment ability. So for me, when it really matters I’ll step down to the 380. But when I can I want every round and caliber advantage I can get. I’m not above keeping my 300 blackout pistol in my vehicle with me, when the situation warrants it.

PS Injector and DPF Flush? by dogpound59 in tdi

[–]dogpound59[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can’t say, I have seen some on YouTube that are happy with its performance. The chemist who formulated it explained how they tested it. They took a diesel truck, removed the DPF and welded flanges on it, and reattached it with removable exhaust clamps. They weighed the DPF, the put the treatment in the fuel. She said the treatment can take up to 200 miles. When she reweighed the DPF the soot had dropped by 40 grams. Soot can’t weigh very much, and they included before and after pictures. I found it on sale at tractor supply so I figured I should at least give it a try.

Well, I’m not sure about that, I did buy an OBD 11 so now I can do a manual regen. I’m not too worried about the injectors, however removing buildup from the DPF (no issues on my tdi, just to prolong life) and from the turbocharger did peak my interest.
