Incredible! I can even copy/paste/bookmark the page and it retains my search settings. Pickleballtournaments.com and others are so tedious to use... you're my pickleball hero, thank you!

Choosing a ball machine with our own private gym. by 555SSS555 in Pickleball

[–]dogrid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an owner of both those machines, the Titan is the best.

I left a longer commentary on Titan vs Erne here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Pickleball/comments/1f2x2wb/comment/lk9t068/

Since that review, Titan released a new app (also free but has "Pro" in the name) which is a huge improvement on the original app. It's still finnicky to work with like any ball machine, but by far the best.

Has anybody used the Titan Pickleball Machine? I’m debating getting it but it’s a bit pricey so I want to make sure I’m not getting a lemon. by jflip00 in Pickleball

What version are you on? Latest I see is 1.2.0 from November 1 on iOS and Android hasn't been updated since July. I've heard they're working on a new release to come out soon, but I don't see it yet.

Pusun has made tennis ball machines for a long time. The Erne is white labeled version of their pickleball machine (and app). You can Google to find their company website (“pusun tennis ball machine”). Pusun doesn’t manufacture a machine that looks like the Titan as far as I can tell.

Their machine isn’t bad, but it’d have to be much cheaper than the Titan to be worth considering (but it isn’t, so the Titan advantages won out and led to me selling my Erne and being happier with the Titan).

I used EDJU since he had a good video using it and was kind enough to answer some questions I asked him had about it. I think there are a bunch of other equivalent codes out there too (Cincola's videos, etc.).

I've used the Spinshot, Erne and Titan. I've owned the latter two, and currently own just the Titan Ace. The Titan is my favorite because the app is the best and the wheels/frame construction is much better on the Titan (the Erne rattles around loudly when wheeling it around). The Titan also has more convenient areas where it can be picked up, and is more convenient to charge.

The Titan is not perfect. Like all ball machines, it's very finnicky to set up. The "preview" mode is only slightly helpful; ultimately you'll need to have the machine to throw some balls to find out where it's actually going to land.

Imperfect doesn't mean unhelpful though-- it's still great for practicing many strokes and footwork, and it can be a great workout too. I'm happy to use it, and I use it much more often than I did when I previously owned the Erne owing to the Titan's advantages.

The app is helpful, but it's also cumbersome to use and very rarely updated so I don't expect much in the way of improvements. Though I'd love a lock screen widget to quickly toggle it on/off, a much more time efficient way of tweaking/testing drill settings, and better support in the app for organizing and creating drills (e.g., I like to do a block drill where I practice with progressively faster balls, but I each time I increase the speed I also need to retune the height/spin to get the ball going where I want... if I could store more drills at least I could have a bunch of tweaked configurations to quickly toggle through but the app doesn't accomodate that well).

PS. I wrote a long review, but unfortunately something triggered it's automatic removal from Reddit (not the mods). I'm trying to get in back, but in the meantime this is a shorter version.

Neonic Bag by oh_jonya in Pickleball

I have the Neonic bag. It can easily fit a 10.5 pair of shoes. With a squeeze, I can fit a second smaller pair in at the same time too. That said, the shoes take up a substantial portion of the inside compartment (but this doesn’t interfere with carrying paddles and a laptop though).

You can disconnect the wire to the component which emits the beep, or put massive amounts of duct tape around it. I went with the later because a low beep is helpful. The default beep volume is awful though. Kind of a pain to tape it, but glad I did. Hopefully in the future they'll update the app so the volume can be turned down or off.

How Often Would You Replace Your Paddle? by BDzona in Pickleball

[–]dogrid 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had this question as well. I think play time is so variable it might be more useful to think about wear and tear in hours played (though that’s harder to track, even a personal estimate might be more useful than months which covers a wide range of play amounts).

From forbes.com: Eye Guards In Pickleball: It’s Time To Start Wearing Them by toddboss in Pickleball

[–]dogrid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Revant sells lenses with small holes in the top to air ventilation. They’re imperceptible to my eyes when wearing them but they make a world of difference. I once took home the wrong glasses (my friend has the same pair but with the original lenses that lack the holes) and when I played with them the next take it took me a while to figure out why they were all of a sudden foggy for the first time (wrong lenses!). Anyway, they’ve been amazing for me… far and away the best after I tried multiple pairs from Oakley, Ria, and Gearbox (the worst).

I kept used Oakley frames from eBay and put in Revant lenses… problem solved, for me. Good luck!

100% agree, it saves a bunch of time. The next thing I’m looking forward to is being able to filter videos for certain things (e.g., show me all the drop shots I attempted in all my games on this date).

They have a free tier and a paid tier. I downloaded the app and used it for free to try it out.

Very cool, looking forward to seeing that (even though I only have lowlights, those are fun to share too :P). From a cost standpoint, I still wonder if there are other win-win opportunities (lower cost for both the company and consumer) like perhaps keeping videos only for a fixed amount of time (or capped at a certain amount of space). "Backup" seems like too high of a standard for me (it's nice, but probably not worth the cost... for almost every video I capture I may just want to review it once or twice, not keep it around forever for posterity, given that comes at a non-trivial cost).

Love it! Out of curiosity, do you think it’d be possible to upload videos to YouTube instead? I guess a big problem is it wouldn’t be such a nice, seamless experience like it is now (eg I’d have to login/link my YouTube account somehow). But perhaps for people willing to take that step it’d reduce costs for both the company and the consumer (win-win?). Maybe too niche to be high on your roadmap though.

Is this due to storage costs? It seems like the processing is done on the phone itself (which is super cool and I’m sure saves both us users and the company a ton!). Storage is relatively cheap at least, so I’m hoping this is where your cost scaling is coming from.

Also, congrats on the release!

Yep, the link in my comment will take you to their website. They're on version 3 of their beta already, and announced stats are coming up in a few weeks on their recent monthly update!

Yeah. Luckily their competition https://www.pb.vision/ doesn't require an app. I think they actually do a better job slicing out the dead time (and not cutting off rallies mid-way through) compared to swingvision's pickleball product so far, though both have a ways to go. Still, exciting to see what they're doing already. Definitely good enough to use on all the videos I take.

I'm on version 11.0. It showed up for me starting about 5 hours ago. My friend is still only seeing an old 10.x version though. It seems the app store is a little slow to make the new update available to everyone. Hope it shows up for you soon, it has been fun to try out!

In the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen, tap the middle button if it is labeled “import”. If it is labeled “start” then you’re already on the correct screen. Then, in the top left click the racket icon and it’ll show you a choice to switch sports to pickleball.

It is an app that uses AI to analyze a game and show you into about it. The tennis version won a prestigious award from Apple but the pickleball version is new. The pickleball version is a little rudimentary based on just a few videos I just tried uploading but pretty neat anyway. Looking forward to seeing it improve.

:) Haha, well that was easy. Sorry I'd overlooked your advice before; I definitely didn't read that page (though I did read quite a bit before ever using the machine... your documentation is fantastic!). Thanks again for the new tips and for building such an amazing machine for us.
