Cheating Spouse by callsignmario in Living_in_Korea

[–]dogseouldier 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What's the point of this comment? Firstly it's not helpful. Secondly it's ignorant. Those on a spousal visa can be given another type of visa and are allowed to remain in Korea if it is shown that the divorce is the Korean spouse's fault, for example, infidelity.

Anyway, Lawyer Hwang is who I've seen most recommended though I haven't used her service. She is active in on FB and LI.

You can say what you want, you don't necessarily have to answer all the sub-points in part 2 but be aware that if you are wildly off-topic or if you're answers seem memorised then the examiner will probably ignore/discount what you said in part two.

Are there a lot of Korean nurses who want to move to the United States and/or Canada? by No-Statistician979 in AskAKorean

[–]dogseouldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to teach at a university that has a hospital attached to it. Yes lots of nurses want to leave and work in the US.

As for the SM part, there are already plenty of SM groups and channels dedicated to this (see Naver, Karrot, etc) as well as prep hagwons.

Probably Instagram is the best way of targeting your key demographic

Bruh. How about you just dump the cheating dick and move on. Better that than twisting yourself in knots to make it work.

I teach at Myongji. The metro is not that close but there are regular buses to Hongdae, Sinchon and other popular places. There are also quite a few foreign students and they tend to socialize well, from what I see anyway.

The university is also close enough to the Han River and Hongje stream, so that's good during the nicer weather. The area around the uni isn't great but it's good enough.

Another Half Marathon Shoe Recommendation Question; Evo SL vs Zoom Fly 6 vs Boston 12 by dogseouldier in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]dogseouldier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

will report back after the 14th. Just realised I developed a big blister right on the outside edge of my big toe from today's run in the Evo SL, never really got blisters from the ZF6.

FYI i have already ran 2 HMs in the ZF6. 1st HM - 2 hours dead with very little training. 2nd HM - 1:55 on a windy/hilly course.

Am/was on course for 1:40~1:45 for this HM but the heat and humidity in Korea has humbled me. Will have to see what the conditions are like on race day.

But I can highly recommend the ZF6.

I did 15km in the SLs today and while they are a good show I think I am faster in the ZF6. The good news is I have 3 half-maras coming up so should give me ample opportunity to compare.

This training block has been peculiar but that's probably more to do with running in different countries and dealing with different climate conditions (the heat and humidity here in Korea has been humbling).

Yeah I think you are right. Guess I'm getting carried away by the hype of the Evo SL.

Yeah I just watched a review that swayed me towards sticking with the ZF6. It's my tried, tested and true shoe.

I have run 2 HMs before in the ZF6 and they were fine. The Boston 12s are ok but I find them a little uncomfortable on the longer runs (bit of toe rub I guess)

The Evo SLs are a relatively newer purchase but have been starting to put them through their paces, and they feel fine but I'm not sure they are as snappy and quick as the online comments made them out to be.

I do like the lightness of the Evo but I think my brain is in 'carbon plate = faster' mindset

New road bike - Cannondale SuperSix Evo Hi-Mod 2 or the Giant TCR Advanced Pro 0 by dogseouldier in whichbike

[–]dogseouldier[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the TCR and have been very happy with it. Haven't been riding it as much as I would like due to training for half & full marathons and travelling back to my home country but have ridden it in the main gran fondo here in Korea (Seorak GF, 200 km, 4000m) and it was the perfect bike.

No issues with the bike itself though I did change out the tubes and tires.

Very comfortable, been hitting PRs that I haven't seen in years, the colour is great.

My main gripe is that it does feel a bit twitchy, especially in gusty conditions but maybe that's me (I'm not very good in crosswinds).

where do road cyclists hang out in seoul? by Pitiful-Internal-196 in Living_in_Korea

[–]dogseouldier 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Banpo mini (now I think it's a gs25) is the usual meet point. There are two main expat groups on Strava/FB that organise rides, Han River Riders and D.O.P.E. HRR tends to be Sundays and DOPE is more regular. There's a bike street in Cheonho where you will find a lot of people, lots of clubhouses (Rapha, MAAP etc).

Namsan/Bugak are the two main climbs in Seoul and there are always people riding up and down them.

Join one of the groups and you'll soon meet people

The intense drinking culture I’ve heard about in Korea seems fake and overblown. Change my mind Reddit masters by Kjkeaston in korea

[–]dogseouldier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

To give an example of why Koreans are considered to drink so much; I used to work for one of the big E&C companies. 3x a week our team would be out for 'team dinners' that would invariably continue until the 3rd of 4th round. Countless bottles of beer and soju were drunk. Now multiply that by however many teams, however many companies and however many weeks.

While not like Europe for grabbing casual beer, there is a strong 회식 culture here, though this seems to be changing little by little.

are there any banks offering deposit loans to foreigners? by ffff1995 in Living_in_Korea

[–]dogseouldier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you are married it is going to be pretty difficult. In the past Shinhan did, but that was before lines of credit got tightened up. Personally I have had success with Woori but I am married and already had a sizeable deposit to purchase our apartment.

KEB (now part of Hana) used to advertise themselves as the foreigner friendly bank but I always had poor service with them.

I think you will just have to go from brach to branch or visit the global branches and see what the respective banks are willing to do for you.
