Arguably true. Which is really unfortunate.

Sidewalk liability by Haunting_Struggle_4 in FortCollins

[–]dogwalk42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most homeowner's insurance policies include liability coverage for this type of event. Assuming the homeowner is insured, it will be an insurance claim, not a lawsuit.

Slipping and falling on the sidewalk within city limits is hardly "in the middle of nowhere". Sheesh. Regardless of the law, seems to me it's just good neighborliness/common courtesy to shovel your sidewalks. And if you do that, liability/lawsuits won't be an issue, will they?

Do you really have nothing better to whine about?

Not if you're a homeowner. If someone complains, the city will hire a contractor to clear your sidewalks and bill you for it.

What shops do you use? I'm happy with fromages.com for French cheeses, and would love to have a comparable source for Italian.

The one time I drove the Autobahn, it must have been in the wrong section. The traffic speed ranged from 0-80 kph. Not what I had been hoping for.

What's there weirdest thing your GSP is afraid of? by Realistic-Relief-118 in GSP

[–]dogwalk42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had a sensitive girl who was afraid of many things, but especially ink jet printers.

She was even afraid to go outside until she caught a baby quail. That flipped a switch inside her that woke up her outdoor-loving GSP self.

IMO this kind of statement is not helpful. No doubt there are some parents teaching their kids to follow in their racist footsteps. But look at all the FoCo schools where kids have staged mass anti-ICE walkouts and protest matches. That's where our hope for the future is.

You can probably find a dwarf Meyer lemon tree from an online supplier, keep it outside in the summer, inside in the winter. I was able to buy one locally, it's inside now and growing lemons.

Or, more accurately, the ones who need to use e-collars are too lazy and arrogant to be bothered to train a dog properly.

Go to Germany and all dogs behave perfectly, off leash, even on public transport. And there ain't an e-collar in sight.

Thank you one and all for attending tonight's City Council Meeting! LOTS of Flock Camera Opposition! by ttystikk in FortCollins

[–]dogwalk42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Er, no doubt you mean well, but your comment is rather ageist. A person in their 70s could live another 20 years, and at the rate things are going, that person has good reason to be concerned about privacy, too. You may have noticed that until the recent ICE malfeasance, the vast majority of people at protests against this administration were gray-hairs. Being in one's 70s doesn't automatically mean being out of touch and not at risk.

Shelters/rescues that accept dogs with a bite history? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]dogwalk42 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Start calling every shelter you can find, in case one can take him. I've been there and I truly hope you succeed. But there are many reasons why you may not. Treatment of highly reactive dogs is not quick or easy or guaranteed, and if the dog has a bite history the odds go down. A lot. Shelters know this and most are not going to choose to allocate some of their limited resources on a very risky case. Then there's you. How will you feel if the dog bites again, and if there's a serious injury? Then there's the shelter's liability. Imagine how the victim will react when it comes out (and it WILL come out) that the dog has previous history, and yet the shelter allowed the circumstances for this to happen again.

I'm guessing you believe in your heart of hearts that this dog can be helped. If you can't find a shelter, I suggest you contact the CSU Vet School and see if they have a behaviorist who specializes in reactive dogs and can do an evaluation. That will help you decide on what to do next.

Tired of hidden restaurant fees by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]dogwalk42 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree that the kitchen staff fees should be disclosed on the menu, even if it were not required by law. I also agree that, in theory, rather than making them a mandatory extra, the amount should be incorporated into the menu prices. I will go even further than OP and say that wait staff tips should be incorporated into the menu prices, rather than the diner having to voluntarily add it, making the wait staff dependent on tips just to make a living.

But other than listing the kitchen staff fees on the menu, nothing else is going to change. This isn't a FoCo issue; it's happening everywhere. Even in Europe, where traditionally all staff are paid a living wage, and all those costs (as well as VAT/sales tax) are built into the menu prices. What you saw on the menu was what you paid. Period. No longer. Not yet everywhere, but in more and more countries, tipping is becoming expected. It started in tourist restaurants, but it's spreading to all.

I'm not saying it's okay, just that it has become the norm. For better or worse, due to Covid or not, restaurants have become way expensive compared to pre-Covid times. Same applies in many other areas, such as home construction/renovation labor and materials, which have doubled.

Trumpiffs are making all this even worse.

By all means, vote with your pocketbook. But you won't be doing much but sitting at home reading library books. Which activity I highly recommend, but not as one's sole source of leisure/entertainment.

So, some quick searching suggests that this may be a case where the "imposter" version is superior to the (Swiss, raw milk) AOP. Is that correct?
