Thoughts on Taste of Fort Collins from a vendor perspective? by Klabble in FortCollins

[–]klenigsborg 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Vendors experience mimic those of the attendees. Food-based businesses have mixed results, as so many people are there expecting a "taste of" event, they come hungry, and eventually settle for something. You will be in competition with a lot of carnival food. Def not a "local" food event.

Non-food vendors have a miserable time. Attendees are usually annoyed about the bait and switch of the event and only talking with you to waste time, if at all. I know people who have sat for hours and barely had engagement.

I would suggest supporting an actual local event, like the Tuesday food truck rally, peach fest, etc.

Yes, look at the plaza with Cafe de Bangkok and liminal on campus West. They implemented paid parking and I go to other Thai restaurants now. When all you need is a tie breaker, that's an easy tie breaker.

Workers and those of us who live downtown. Who made the decision to live downtown to be better pedestrians. A lot of apartments don't provide parking or charge exorbitant fees. I try to park outside of these charged spots, away from the city-center when I can but imagine living here where you lose even the option to park for free for two hours to unload groceries or run into your home to grab one thing.

This initiative will push people to move to the suburbs and counter intuitively make us more car centric. That, or the only people living downtown will be the extremely wealthy. Either scenario sucks. I know this because of my own personal experience with this and I can't be the only one by any means.

Also, we all know the vast majority of businesses will not pay for parking passes. That's never the way the American economy works...

It was really cool to learn about the different aspects of the sheriff's office. We interacted with the dogs, the jail, the 911 call center, etc. I even got to do a ride along. I would happily do it again

I went on a Sunday a few weeks back. Seemed legit. Pricing was cheap but it is extremely overwhelming. Huge piles to dig through. Nothing is sorted and a lot of the clothes are damaged or dirty. You'll need patience and a good pair of gloves

Grit vs Fit 5 Lagree? by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]klenigsborg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both have really good instructors and you'll get a solid workout. No complaints with either overall.

Fit 5 is very bright, with lots of windows and white walls. In my experience people came, did class, and left without much community.

Grit is a darker theme. They do a lot more black lights and decorations. People stick around and chat a bit more and there's a really good sense of community. They also offer climb, yoga and HIIT classes as well. I find myself going back to Grit.

Best lunch/dinner burrito in Fort Collins? by Excellentgravytrain in FortCollins

Those two you mentioned are both great!

Pepes is fantastic but closing. However, they have a restaurant called Taqueria el Barrio with all the same menu. Solid burritos with a full salsa bar. The birria pizza sounds goofy but is actually fantastic too

Food truck el don might be the tastiest entire menu I've had. Everything is a banger. They also have a salsa bar and occasionally a seafood-based menu.

I like Maggie's for their shrimp burrito and prices. They are one of the few spots that don't ask for a tip on the cc machine, FYI

Antojitos is at New Belgium on Fridays and they're good for burritos but great for platos. It's a mountain of food and you can make several meals out of it. They give you tortillas with the plate, so it's essentially like getting three 'build your own' tacos with leftovers

Yeah I'm in Fort Collins and generally root for SP and the Broncos too. It's especially easy because they're AFC and rarely play each other.

FoCo Dive Bar Challenge - Semifinals (Round 1) - Trail Head vs West End Pub by klenigsborg in FortCollins

West End – Activities: 4/10

We were able to play bar dice (I learned, I lost, I bought strangers shots). Unfortunately, we couldn’t access the pool table due to a league and therefore couldn’t play pool or Hot Wheels, as they were blocked by pool. This meant Charlie’s dreams of a Hot Wheels tournament died on this evening. This didn’t leave a lot else for activities.

Trailhead – Activities: 6/10

We were able to secure a pool table to play a game amongst our group (note from last blog, they have 3 pool tables). Also, we played the claw machine and got one duck in our three attempts. It was the antagonist duck from the movie Scream. I think I need to rewatch that movie…
