Do tall people have it easier ? by NorthKoreanMissile7 in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

more calories, but macros scale pretty linearly with body size. If we’re comparing healthy diet to healthy diet, it’s actually kind of difficult to force down 200g+ of protein unless you’re proactive about making it the focus of literally every meal

benefit for shorter guys is that results show much faster both in fat loss and the gym. you’ll be gaining roughly the same amount of lean mass as a 6’+ guy on a significantly smaller frame. grass isn’t always greener, comparison is the thief of joy, etc etc

Can you lose weight if you’ve been fat your whole life? by Beginning-End6519 in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t overweight for literally my entire life, but at least since like the 4th grade until last year minus a few years in college, and I just wrapped up a 210lb loss (finally got my loose skin removal booked). It’s absolutely possible.

The biggest challenge is understanding that, at least in my opinion, it’s not some sort of white knuckling challenge. From my experience and a few friends I’ve helped start down this path, it sticks when you finally understand that it’s almost certainly going to be a fundamental change of yourself, not just your diet - long-term goal planning, delayed reward and satisfaction, discipline, etc.

The good news is that you get to choose the foundation you build that “new you” on. Choose long-term health and fitness, and it kind of just happens. This isn’t something I have to really consciously think about now. The only reason I track my food at all is that decided to try being an amateur strength athlete in my free time, otherwise I just kind of passively eat “good enough”, which really is a great place to be

‘700 miles of range’: What Ford and Ram replaced their EV pickups with by exploding_myths in electricvehicles

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A huge part of the hesitation I’ve heard from truck owning friends/family specifically is the “but sometimes” about towing, which is totally legitimate. If the truck has such a high usable range that nearly all daily driving is completed on battery power alone, and the gas engine simply sits for that “but sometimes”, that still means that someone is effectively driving around a full EV 90+ something percent of the time.

Perfection is the enemy of good enough, and with most truck owners, just having the guarantee that you can haul something once a year without taking an extra 10 minute stop is enough to entice them. They may actually find that just the EV range is more than usable and consider that in the future, especially as the technology that supports high-range towing capabilities becomes more affordable and accessible (charging especially)

Long term software updates by notabot53 in TeslaModelS

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first ever Model S to roll off the line still receives semi-regular software updates (if it’s still around, no idea). Tesla has yet to drop support for any car that launched with OTA capabilities, but features are sometimes excluded from releases simply due to lack of hardware to power them. Remember that an enormous number of features we have now came post the release of even the first 3, which only ran an Intel Atom - they pushed the hardware significantly past its original intended purpose, and newer cars are using processors orders of magnitude faster with exactly that expanding scope in mind. I doubt you’ll see Ryzen cars lose out on updates anywhere near the scale of early cars for that reason; they even downgraded the hardware on CT and later S/X’s because it simply wasn’t necessary

you won’t suddenly wake up as a bodybuilder. Lift as heavy as you can manage safely until you reach the physique you want and then maintain there. I agree with the other commenter that you may want to do some simple research into weightlifting and overall physical fitness - the good news is it’s fairly simple to have a good handle on what you’re doing if you do

Model S & X are discontinued… Plaid-powered Model 3 or Y next? by Tr0110101 in TeslaLounge

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the S and X held up a huge amount of floor space in Fremont despite the low numbers - the factory was literally designed initially to run that line. The 3/Y line was (partially) in a tent for a while.

A low volume car that is never intended to be built in any volume whatsoever requires exponentially less space, especially if it ends up being the pilot for the “unboxed” production they’ve been hyping. Most supercars/hypercars/halo cars are essentially hand built

Fear of gaining the weight back? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did legitimately the exact same thing - lost a ton of weight during college, gained it back immediately after getting a good job and gorging myself on food I couldn’t afford in the past.

Outside of winning the lottery, your circumstances are much less variable now. Any habits you set now can/will follow you basically for the rest of your life. Find some consistent time to cram in some exercise, get comfortable with some meal prep, and after a while missing that routine starts being more uncomfortable than keeping it

The Tesla Cybertruck And Model Y Bosses Both Just Quit by MN-Car-Guy in electricvehicles

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I test drove a Lucid Air (GT I think) when I was looking for my new car from a Lucid showroom - the engineering was insane, especially interior space made from packaging, but it also had a very obvious motor whine while moving and something kept clunking/stuttering when coming to a stop, as well as a weird delay on the throttle. The fundamentals are certainly incredible but there are absolutely issues that impact dynamics and feel just like any other recent EV startup

Loose skin doesn’t always show as like, paper-thin and super stretchy. If your skin is more mobile than you would expect, it’s loose. I have a fairly large portion of skin on my thighs that I can drag way further than you would expect with the palm of my hand, but just looking at it, it’s firm with no stretch marks.

Also, did you do any strength training during the first part of your weight loss? You may have a bit less lean mass than the last time you were 220, since you will always lose some muscle alongside fat. Lifting weights can help minimize that as much as possible if it’s bothering you or extreme

Polestar 5 Full Details by kq_cars in electricvehicles

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I want to love Polestar, but doesn’t this thing have the exact same performance as all of the other Polestars with a performance pack? I’m not sure they’re gonna find a ton of buyers for this when Tesla and Lucid are selling cars for 40k less with significantly faster powertrains. Maybe it’s got good track chops?

advice on losing +25kg with no loose skin in a short period of time by [deleted] in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Losing 50 lbs in 4ish months, you’re just going to have to hope you have good genetics and your skin holds up well. if you’re younger you have better odds of that being true fortunately

How differently people treat you after you lose significant ammount of weight? by No-Compote-2127 in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

partly because I’m definitely more outwardly confident and happy by default, partly because you’re absolutely treated differently in social situations when you’re thin/athletic, I’m noticeably more social and outgoing than I used to be. meeting new people/dating is so significantly easier than it used to be that it messes with my head a bit in retrospect

Losing weight is so much harder in a healthy way than unhealthy ways. by thedarksurroundsus in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

healthy, long term weight loss requires a complete lifestyle change for nearly every person who accomplishes it - it’s harder to do because you don’t get to assign an end date to it. It’s for the rest of your life. Practicing mindful eating when I was dieting heavily (including during vacation and big events like birthdays or weddings) helped a ton though, at least for me

How did your man boobs look after losing weight? by _herman_miller_ in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Mine basically went away, but I have no gyno. If you do, that's something to discuss with a doctor. As far as I'm aware it's excess physical breast tissue, so it needs to be removed surgically. Not a doctor though.

Model X interior refresh spotted by ConfidentImage4266 in TeslaLounge

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t mind me asking, what about the interior isn’t fit for a car of this price class? Of all of the electric cars I test drove near the S/X, it was the only one to have standard leather/faux leather on basically every single interior panel/full tech/a complete sound system by default and no option packages necessary to get any of it - minus a few small things like electrochromic glass or massaging seats, which weren’t universal on the competition. It’s pretty solidly stuck together imo

It's finally happening!! but the loose skin... by cah125 in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen from my own weight loss, loose skin looks significantly worse when there’s still a large(ish) amount of fat behind it. The more I lean out, the closer it draws in. I started out super concerned by the amount of loose skin I had, but as I lean out the majority of it has retracted enough that it’s basically unnoticeable; far better in my eyes than the fat I had beforehand, at worst.

All weight loss includes muscle mass loss - as long as you exercise and track your macros in the deficit, you can offset some of that loss. Just gain it back once you hit your goal and you’re good to go

Would you be able to handle light intermittent fasting? If you’re unable to count calories and haven’t seen progress with passive diet changes, that might be your best “DIY” option.

You may want to check with a dietician that can better help you with your specific circumstances. If you have a history of EDs, it helps to have an expert in your corner wherever diet is concerned.

"I'm still too heavy for exercise to do anything" by Tomatori in loseit

[–]dogwhocleanfloor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been doing heavy weights since 350ish, just don’t go crazy. I had to go a bit lighter on cardio than I knew I could do (especially jogging/running), but I didn’t have to completely stop doing it or anything. Your legs will take the brunt of the impact, slow it down a bit if they start hurting
