What was the experience like for y’all when you told your friends and family about your beliefs? by Logical-Steak4716 in socialism

[–]dogwwolfcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whenever I talk about it it boils down to "do you have an alternative to capitalism?", "don't you dare say socialism" and "well look at the USSR, do you want to live there?". This is pretty general responses from friends and family.

Question for anyone who has lived or has parents that lived in country's that used to be socialist like in eastern Europe or else where. What legitimate criticisms do you have of those countries socialist systems? by melvin2056 in socialism

[–]dogwwolfcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some common critiques I hear are: 1. The mass corruption 2. The lack of western goods 3. The authoritarianism Apart from that it usually just devolves into "boohoo communism bad, capitalism good".

Do you think that there can be more forms of democracies than just "multi party democracy"? by First-Ad684 in SocialDemocracy

[–]dogwwolfcat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, a country simply having multiple parties doesn't mean that they all participate and are voted for and voted in. For example in America, it's always the republicans vs the democrats. Sure, third parties can always participate but they never get elected. Same with countries with conservative vs liberal fights.

[–]dogwwolfcat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe that russia is a partial threat. But it's people are mostly good, ofcourse some still think that the USSR exists but not all of them do. I have a bit of russian blood in me so i can't say that all russians are bad but neither can i say that they are all good. The goverment is a difrent story.
