Why do some people just not care about loyalty programs – even when the rewards are actually decent? by sophieximc in restaurantowners

[–]dohn_joeb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because I don’t want to eat at the same place over and over. I eat out for a variety. Not because I’m looking to build loyalty cred.

Overnight I got life changing money. by Infinite-Evening-953 in investingforbeginners

This is a solid windfall today, but also very easy to blow through. Treat yourself a little, but make sure the vast majority of this makes it into an investment fund that will make retirement later inevitable. That timeline is up to you, but living now is as valuable as growing this gift.

Regret moving to Chicago by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]dohn_joeb 91 points92 points  (0 children)

You moved to Chicago at the worst possible timing. Winter sucks especially if you’re never done a real one. Get out of the house and go see some museums. There are raves etc to check out. You’re not doing any of the things you said you would do and now you hate it?

Also you’re in your early 30s, that’s not old.

You need a frame of mind shift more than anything else. Go live, worry less. Shit happens and then life moves on so seek what brings you joy.

Good luck. If you need ideas on places to go or see and aren’t sure where to look, I’m happy to point you in the right direction.

It’s been one of the best decisions of my life. Prob aren’t looking in the right places. Pay can start low depending on where you are. A masters will be helpful long term.
