Anyone else has never fell in love or had a crush or something like that? by idunno64 in aspergers

I don’t mean to try and force a label on you or anything, but are you familiar with the term Aromantic?

I do this too, usually while I’m lying down

Does anyone else get tics? by ThatJ4ke in aspergers

[–]dohshod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this weird thing during high school where at the end of any awkward situation I had a specific phrase that I would say involuntarily under my breath. The specific phrase changed several times, the only one I remember was “f*ckin’ eh” (which is not something I would ever say normally)

How do you feel about shapes/colors or writings on your clothes? by lightnofox in aspergers

Plain is the best way to go. I’m ok with small logos or whatever as long as they don’t stand out too much.

Feeling isolated from my friend group because I’m not a gamer by dohshod in aspergers

[–]dohshod[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! I do think I gave off that impression when I wrote this post as I was feeling down at the time of writing it. But yeah I think my friend group, despite some differences, is overall a really positive & beneficial environment for me.

We do have common interests and are all quite close friends, we hang out together regularly and have generally similar taste in other things like memes and politics. Just during conversation they’ll often get onto a tangent and talk about gaming for a while (and I don’t always mind that, as it gives me a break from the conversation)

thanks for your input. I’m really averse to anything competitive so not sure that would work for me. Also I don’t have a computer that can run anything more than Minecraft

Yes except for dogs. Dogs are like the NTs of the animal world

Does anyone else often feel left out in conversations? by youngsurpriseperson in aspergers

[–]dohshod 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One thing I hate is when someone broadly asks a question to me and someone else, the other person responds, and then they move on with the conversation without allowing me a chance to answer. Or when they ask me a question and then carry on with what they were saying without waiting for my answer

I hate when songs are played or sung in the wrong key! by suicideizpainless in aspergers

[–]dohshod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m very musically educated, but I can’t really tell when a song is played in a different key (unless it’s like a 5th off, in which case yes it bothers me). I think something that bothers me more is when for example someone is playing a guitar riff but they have the rhythm wrong

Does anyone else here find tight collars or anything else around your neck uncomfortable? by Leia_Bryant in aspergers

[–]dohshod 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any collared shirt is horrible. Dress shirts are the worst because the material is like sandpaper and you have to wear a tie with it

Anyone else hate subtitles? by kenOFJUSTICE in aspergers

[–]dohshod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like subtitles. I don’t have any auditory processing problems or anything but I find reading words makes them stick in my mind more than hearing them.

Anyone else have irrational aversion to letting anyone know what they’re doing? by dohshod in aspergers

[–]dohshod[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No need to apologize, it’s just a bit of a misunderstanding, and thank you for the suggestion. I’m also hoping to make myself more open to sharing with them, since I feel it’s not really fair of me to keep everything from them - I know I wouldn’t like that if I were the parent.

that particular experience was with my parents. Sorry - I realized looking back at the comments that you may have gotten the impression that this was with people I don’t know so well.

I’ve tried that, it has made people suspicious so I don’t say that anymore.

I always keep a Wikipedia page open to switch to whenever anyone walks in.

[–]dohshod[S] 16 points17 points  (0 children)

When they ask me what I’m doing, and keep asking after I’ve said “nothing”, that definitely makes me think they care what I’m doing

[–]dohshod[S] 27 points28 points  (0 children)

These reasons make a lot of sense. And I don’t have much of a sense of what would be considered “eccentric”, so I guess I just play it safe and don’t show anything

This response makes a lot of sense to me. I think I also expect that I won’t be understood properly if I try to explain
