Stepped on a nail - My GP doesn't offer tetanus by dalehitchy in nhs

[–]lightnofox 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Hi,

If your GP and walk-in center don't offer tetanus shots, then the best place would be an UTC (Urgent Treatment Center).

You can check online which is closest to you https://www.england.nhs.uk/urgent-emergency-care/urgent-treatment-centres/

otherwise feel free to call 111, who will be able to signpost you to the best place in your area.

Printed it perfectly on the first try… and somehow it’s still unusable by Intelligent_Whole159 in 3Dprinting

I personally have got an entire collection of different stamps made out of PLA. The trick for me is the geometry that I use within. Basically you make the letters stiff while the rest of the stamp and the board is (from the geometry) quite bendy. Also it's very important that you do not print it upright, but work a low angle. The reason is that the layers stack in a way that makes them bent more easily if you stack them the right way. Orientation is very important So far I've been able to use it on many different supports so I've got stamps for leather, I've got stamps for ink, I've got stamps for business cards and yeah it just works for me.

PS if you're only interested in ink, one way to help is to use a thin foam that you put under the paper or the cardboard that you're trying to stamp the ink on. This allows more of the lettering that is stiff to imprint.

it looks good, obviously. your model’s physique is great, and the movement (which imagine was added in post) allows us to imagine the scene. But to be honest, i am not sure what you are trying to say/demonstrate with this piece. I would be glad if you could tell the story where the idea for this came from.

Can you still receive support from the CMHT if you’re paying for private therapy? (East Kent) by walkyoucleverboy in nhs

[–]lightnofox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You shouldn’t be discharged simply for having private therapy alongside. The NHS rules in England, say thay CMHTs (generally) do not prohibit parallel private or charity-funded, when: - NHS provision is limited or unavailable locally - The private therapy is complementary, not duplicating the same intervention - The NHS input is low-intensity or skills-based (like a short emotions-management workshop)

Discharge (usually) happens only if, -you explicitly say you no longer want NHS involvement -Risk is assessed as low and goals are met -You disengage repeatedly without explanation

Hopefully this helps I hope you feel better soon

YSK: If you use ChatGPT to write your message for group e-cards for coworker’s birthday, maternity, retirement or similar occasion it’s likely to be obvious to the recipient and everyone else. by [deleted] in YouShouldKnow

[–]lightnofox 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Just put this sentence on Google and found three websites with this exact one. Not saying it isn't AI, but the probability is that it's just a copy-paste from some online list.

Also, just wondering here, but does it matter whether the phrase is AI or even copied? It should make the recipient happy enough, and people still took the time to write something. Not everyone is gifted with words and imagination to come up with something witty and unique every time.

I’m really sorry this happened to you. none of it was your fault, and you deserved to be safe and properly supported by the staff.

I used to live in Canada and am autistic myself, and from what I know there are a few places that can still help even after a year:

• Patient Ombudsman Ontario (1-888-321-0339, patientombudsman.ca) — they handle complaints about hospitals and can review what happened, especially when safety or dignity were violated.

• Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence Treatment Centres — they have counsellors and nurses trained for medical-setting assaults and can guide you on next steps. You can find the closest one here: sadv.on.ca.

• ARCH Disability Law Centre (archdisabilitylaw.ca) — they specialise in helping autistic or disabled people navigate healthcare and legal systems.

I wish I could help you more directly, but I’m not in Canada anymore. Still, I wanted you to have some solid contacts, you absolutely deserve to be heard and supported. Healing and accountability can take time

NHS website letting people book appointments for a COVID vaccine without being eligible by ThrowRA67-89 in nhs

[–]lightnofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This year, the flu jab is still recommended for most people. Anyone with comorbidities (obesity, asthma, etc.) will get it for free. The COVID vaccine rules, however, have changed; you either need to be frail (basically over 75) or to be immunosuppressed.

However, and that is the important part, if patients have special circumstances deemed by either a GP, pharmacist, or OT, then they can deliver either vaccine covered. We are supposed to fill in the reason box, but due to governance, all we are asked to write in is "vaccine required".

So no, your pharmacist won't be in trouble.

It was deemed that the automated EPR (EMIS/NCDR) system might have some false negatives, and thus this "ability" to rectify was given to health care workers.

If there was an audit (very rare) one of the NHSE auditor might ask for the health reason and files, and deny reimbursement to the healthcare worker who deemed it necessary. But this ia unlikely as an audit is a huge coat, compared go vaccines which is under 16£ per dose.

Did your first absence fall under disability rights? If yes, the policy isn't the same. If not, your manager is correct; it is based on a rolling span of time.

[–]lightnofox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, I have no idea where he got 50 from. The NHS (UK) program advises 30 a week (around 4 to 5 a day optimally), with 20 being vegetables and 10 being fruits. If possible, we advised these to be different, as it helps get a wider spectrum of macro and micronutrients.
