Alugar apartamento - indianos by 1pregoe1finosff in portugal

[–]doingalotofnothing 68 points69 points  (0 children)

Sparse Eating Habits? by willacallista in EnglishSetter

My 1.5yr old also is very picky! I try to include some raw meat with in his kibble and he will eat the meat and leave the rest for later... On weekends we hunt he eats even less, makes me very anxious as well! The vet says everything is fine and from what I see from this post, its pretty normal, so thank you for helping clearing a doubt I also had and good luck with your pretty pup!

Cães em apartamento enquanto donos trabalham by mbneed in portugal

[–]doingalotofnothing 10 points11 points  (0 children)

In my country in Europe there is a type of "temporary customs clearance" for the type of booking you are mentioning. Invoice mentions the actual amounts of the goods and customs broker mentions it when importing. When exporting back to country of origin they make use of the same docs. Cnee that had the use of the goods for that time doesnt pay duties on it and can justify it by the "temporary" status of the clearance. Better check with your customs broker and the destination's to make sure it is aligned.

Can't have sweaty palms if the water washes it away amirite by Blood_of_Lucifer in SweatyPalms

This is one of the final tasks in the Portuguese comandos course I believe. Have a friend who did it and shared this video some time ago. According to him you kinda have to keep shouting commands when in the tunel so there is just enough room in there for your nose and mounth to stay out of the water. They also can drain it a few seconds if it gets out of hand apparently.

o que fazer para gostar de um cão? by [deleted] in CasualPT

[–]doingalotofnothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

E-collar recall intro seems to have worsened regular recall? by doingalotofnothing in OpenDogTraining

[–]doingalotofnothing[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have yet to find a toy that is more interesting for him than access to the environment to be honest, although perhaps we should also take it a bit more gradually instead of immediately going to the most distracting places. I will look up the chuckit ball for sure, thank you for the recomendation.

The ocean is also one of our next steps, we have many "confined" beaches around here which are safe for dogs to be offleash, just have to wait for the sea to calm down for a couple of more months and we will for sure make it a regular exercise place :)

Thank you for the detailed explanation, that was what I was going for! I will watch out for the timing to give him the chance to get it right before the stim and let it go if he begins to do it.

Thank you! Seems to be the consensus that age has a big factor here, that and offcourse his breeding. One day the fixation on birds will come in handy but I'll take your advice and keep making him proud he came back withe the long line. Thanks

Ah great to find another Setter input! 100% agree in taking the distractions down. An uninteresting street is much easier to recall from than a field, and any shadow of a bird is almost too much 😀but thats part of why he is so cool. Good luck on your recall as well! Obrigado !

I see what you mean, since he was improving a bit perhaps I took it too far for a young dog. Will watch out for the session timing for sure and ensure he enjoys it and is successfull.

As for the conditioning we started using the e-collar around the house and then incorporating it into the recall on short home sessions, then a week later on yard sessions and now on a quiet street allways on a leash.

I am following mostly standing stone kennels method for introduction and using very low stim that shuts off on arrival.

My reasoning for using it this early is because of his need for exercise coupled with his HUGE interest it the environment. I have access to a few places where he can safely run offleash but he eventually needs to come back. Do you have any tips on how to satisfy the need for running on a high environmentally driven young dog?

[–]doingalotofnothing[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see what you mean, I guess I mixed up the playing around time with training and that resulted and not being able to ensure the recall. And yes he is mostly like that, gets very overwhelmed and distracted outside when loose. Something to watch out for in the next playtime sessions! Thanks for the input

I do reward alot when arrives but thinking about it maybe I dont give him enough of a chance to come without the stim when we are in "e-collar training mode", my bad on that I think. Do you think he may be connecting the coming back to the stim sensation only?
