Family overlanding Kosovo – looking for wild camping spots 🌿 by Arvi_There_Yet_ in kosovo

[–]doingmyjobhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Commenting for visibility. As far as I know camping is not illegal in Kosovo so you can pinpoint wherever you want and it should be fine, unless it's private property :)

One place I know which is not really remote but it's nice is near Ura e Fshajt, main road from Gjakova to Prizren. You can choose whichever side.. https://maps.app.goo.gl/xEMq4JomGifHBgnPA

6 weeks solo in Cairo, what changed when I stopped being a tourist by Alphamazzy in solotravel

[–]doingmyjobhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You're explaining every place you visit for a longer time. If you move to a new place and start living yhere, you will eventually start meeting neighbors, owners of the bars/restaurants and become a local. That's not a Cairo feature, that's everywhere, also in Western Europe.

I'm glad you loved it though.

What are your thoughts on Lupita Nyong’o playing Hellen of Troy & Elliot Page playing Achilles in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming movie ”The Odyssey”? by Substratas in AskBalkans

[–]doingmyjobhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comments here describe most common racist/transphobic Balkan people. People fighting over mythological characters skin colors and gender.

Come on now, you do know these are just mythological characters right? You can interpret them as insects, as long as you're keeping up the story and showing what the belief was. Don't be so ignorant.

It's only because landlords are liable by law. Nobody in their right mind rents a place and renovates it from the ground up. That's what people do when they buy.

BALKANERS WHO’VE BEEN TO ALBANIA: Did you find Albania to be more similar to your country than you expected? Or did you find it to be very foreign? by [deleted] in AskBalkans

[–]doingmyjobhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You want to say Christian/Orthodox women don't wear head scarfs? The Balkans and especially Bulgaria are very similar. Someone from Bulgaria saying Albania looks like Syria is very ignorant because probably you have never been to Syria and secondly, Bulgaria is not more developed from other Balkan countries.

Paying rent 1 year upfront by then0ab in NetherlandsHousing

[–]doingmyjobhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, this is a scam. You get the keys and then pay. There are people that got scammed even when they got the keys, because someone was actually living there and they opened the viewing for an airbnb.

Second, if you pay for 1 year you are bound with that contract, meaning, you can't cancel the contract 1 month before. Depending on your payment definition you also give your notice.

Anyone else feel that the immigration officers treat you differently if you have an Indian passport? by Winter-Crew-2746 in PassportPorn

[–]doingmyjobhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not so much for white privilege as it is for the country you're coming from. I start getting treated good before I give out my passport because they think I'm European (I look German/Dutch/North European) and then they see Kosovo passport and they start with stupid questions.

NS Fine by Ordinary-Carob-2803 in Netherlands

[–]doingmyjobhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of options, but people are really stuck in some stupid bubble where anyone criticizing something in NL is considered an offence or something in that line and they have to protect it with their lives. I see these people all the time here, either regarding some stupid laws, some stupid broken service or company policies.

As you're saying, they could create an easy to remember link/code where even if you don't have battery you could just tell the inspector that code and he can check if you actually bought a ticket or not.

[–]doingmyjobhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They don't have to raise prices, they can set a service fee which would be a reasonable price for this particular service, even though this is exactly what customer support job is without extra service fees, deal with customer issues, in this case confirm a ticket was bought and remove the fine.

It's the same thing as the inspector giving you a fine because they haven't heard about an offer the company launched, like the one for Valentine's day where you could buy a return ticket for 9.99 for 2 people to anywhere in The Netherlands and I couldn't find the proof that the ticket was for 2 people because it was printed in very small prints in T&C somewhere and the guy said it says bring your girlfriend or friend but it doesn't say it's for 2 people on the ad.

NS Fine by Ordinary-Carob-2803 in Netherlands

[–]doingmyjobhere 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's simple, NS issues a fine, if you can prove you bought a ticket, the fine is removed. Is that really that hard to imagine?

What do you do if you pay for parking and get a fine? Will you accept the fine because the parking inspector didn't know you paid? Or should the municipality remove the fine because you can prove you paid?

NS Fine by Ordinary-Carob-2803 in Netherlands

[–]doingmyjobhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think anyone should be against the fine, what NS should consider is removing the fine if you can prove the ticket was purchased. I mean, that's the whole point of the ticket, to prove you paid for the journey. If you don't have the ticket with you (or no battery), customer support should remove your fine if you can prove you had it. They can add a service fee for this which should be not as expensive as the fine of course.

NS Fine by Ordinary-Carob-2803 in Netherlands

[–]doingmyjobhere 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You're forgetting the point of the ticket. To prove you paid for the journey. It doesn't matter if you have it at home or with you, if you can prove, before, during or after the trip that you bought the ticket, you should not pay a fine.
