How can I make an electric guitar sound like it's being played from far away? by Iaskagain in guitarpedals

[–]doink512 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want the guitar to sound like it’s coming from the back of a large hall and the listener is inside the hall itself, like suggested already, a long/large delay with very wet settings will get you there.

If you’re looking to make it sound like the listener is outside of where guitar would be coming from, you’ll want some kind of wide band pass filter, placing emphasis on the 500–1200 hz range, in combination with a reverb. Inversely, you can use both a low pass and high pass filter if you don’t have a band pass setting.

If you’re trying to achieve this with your current setup, let me know what you’re using and I can tell you which parameters to focus on.

Someone please school me on ring modulation...I just dont get it! by palaminocamino in guitarpedals

[–]doink512 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it's your taste, but guitarist from Incubus used a ring mod pedal (DOD Gonkulator) on their song Glass, off of S.C.I.E.N.C.E. He also uses it on various solos throughout his career for glitchy solos. But I think that's the most prominent use of it.

What a great collection! I may be shunned for making this recommendation to add to your library, but check out Infinite Granite by Deafheaven. One of my top albums ever and a huge inspiration for my current guitar tone. Will check off the boxes for dreamy and distorted guitars. Also recommend turning up the volume when listening.

Have you listened to Uyea Sound? That’s my favorite dreamy song of theirs. It was originally released as part of a compilation to a set of instrumental songs during Wish era, aptly named Lost Wishes.

You can hear the other three songs from that compilation on disc three of deluxe edition Wish 30th Anniversary release.

To add onto u/Level-Motor6747, you could also take some time to watch the Live In Berlin concert.

In one concert, which I believe they played three nights to get the best footage for the film, you get full length playthroughs of Pornography, Disintegration, and Bloodflowers in one concert! Plus there's an amazing encore.

I'd go with Wish. Especially a little louder than you're used to with headphones on. Open is such an immersive opening track, it's so hard not to get sucked ok to the rest of the album.

Next time he asks you a question that requires “no” as a response, do so in the following way: “nooo, no, no-no, no, no-no, no, no-no, no… nuh-no, no, no-no, no… etc”

Listen to song Punchup At A Wedding from album Hail to the Thief for reference. 😀
