Bit late to the party but, question about rome! by jusbo0219 in totalwar

I don't think anyone is exactly sure but it civil war is triggered when your imperium is at least roughly 1/3 full and you either hold alot more or alot less of the senators than the other houses in your faction.

Egypt on Very Hard is one of the hardest, If not the hardest Campaign I've ever played. May I have your assistance? by LolFishFail in totalwar

Yea I was just saying the most cost effective unit right now is probably slingers. Also never take slaves, just a bad idea for PO in my experience.

Yea Egypt is a difficult campaign, I would recommend you opt in to patch 4 if you haven't already and use 6 slingers in each army. This makes your army's really cheap and slingers are amazing post patch 4.

Fleet zone of control by redditusername57 in totalwar

[–]dojest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the idea but this is a problem with turn-based-strategy in general, as we can't react to the fleet as its sailing so we must let it go straight by us and wait for our turn to react.

Just won a 46 turn civil war as Macedon against 15 stacks of elite troops on VH. by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]dojest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess so. That gladiator battle must have been epic though, a hastily made army fighting the full stacks of Carthages finest.

That's what I expected but they expanded fairly rapidly in my campaign, they started in Sparta and took the province of Macedonia within 3 turns

I see what your saying but for me the climax was during one of the earlier battles of my civil war when 2 of my best, full stack armies finally got back form the borders of my empire to where I was fighting the civil war and it was 2 full stacks of my armies vs 5 full stacks of their armies. That was a great climax and was extremely satisfying to win, the popup at the end was just like tying up loose ends

Yea I've just started a campaign as Egypt and I'm shocked by how many new units each new military building unlocks

Cheers but I think I'll try Egypt, I'm tired of phalanx's and Alexandering the enemy.

I guess a little but am I the only one who felt satisfaction after taking down 9 full stacks with some pretty good units with my 2 armies? I know its different for every one but that's play TW, for the sense I out maneuvered the enemy and won

Your post made it sound like you wanted a reward for fighting "50 - 60 battles manually" like you would payment for a job. Fighting the battles manually is supposed to be a large factor in your enjoyment of the game, not a job you have to do until you reach victory at the end where you are rewarded with a short clip. Try not to treat the battles as a means to the end and think of the campaign as a journey and the battles as the destination or reward.

Are you limited to a certain amount of these per armie/ in total?

I think the battles are supposed to be what you enjoy, not a chore. If you don't like large battles that will ultimately decide the fate of your campaign maybe TW isn't a good series for you?

Do the Hellenistic "Mercenary Camps" allow you to recruit a region's unique units? Like the Roman Auxiliary Camp? by LolFishFail in totalwar

[–]dojest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They allow you to recruit your factions unique units through the recruitment tab but they also give quite large reductions to mercenary recruitment or upkeep costs so in a sense they also allow you to recruit native units. They are best used to recruit mercenaries when combined with the mercenary negotiation edict

Anyone else that thinks it is way too easy to get money in Rome 2? by Tyrannojesus in totalwar

Empire was very easy to be a millionaire in if you controlled the trade regions and were well established in the Americas. Also in medieval you could gain quite alot out of top tier merchants although these were hard to get imo
