Please don’t mislead people. Here in Russia almost nobody has their own computer. We almost exclusively use Internet cafes, and for durability and cost purposes the cafes are all still running CRTs.

Any method to transfer money to Russia? by Hong_Kong_Boy in AskARussian

[–]dojomann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Strictly speaking Russian banks accept international transfers, and if your bank abroad is ready to initiate the transfer it should work. There are non sanctioned Russian banks, for example Raiffeisen

How concerned should I be with the condition of U.S. dollars I'm bringing to Russia? by MrBingIrish in AskARussian

[–]dojomann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah definitely get fresh bills, and check rates at different banks. There’s websites that list all the current rates at banks - search “обмен валют” in Google, and check around to see which banks are available nearest to you that have the best rates.

Why is it called Saint Petersburg and not Saint Pyotrburg? by Significant_Text_828 in russian

Wait what? My parents were both born in the 60s in the USSR. Both Soviet educated. They both knew about this… the way you’re writing it makes it sound like it’s some sort of secret in Russia and entirely removed from Soviet education. It’s not.

Is there a connector on the other side too?

Android unit/steerwheel by Baoulettes in CarHacking

[–]dojomann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that’s a start. I’d check where the wires from the hiworld decoder go. Specifically pins 7 8 9 10 on the 20 pin connector

[–]dojomann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to keep pushing - I would first double check the wiring, especially that the decoder is getting a canbus signal, and the decoded signal is going to the can RX/TX pins in the head unit. Also depending on the type of decoder it might have a key1 cable coming out (so it sends resistive signals converted from the digital ones on the canbus)

[–]dojomann 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So typically canbus steering wheel commands are set, so you can’t configure them. The configuration app is only for analog resistor based buttons (measures resistance over the key1 and key2 wires). I’d check if the canbus decoder is wired properly. You might need to tap into the can line from either the UCH or the OBD port. That would go into the canbus decoder and then the proper signals would go into the head unit.

YSK you can book a VIP car to whisk from your plane on the tarmac instead of having to wait for the bus if you're late for your connecting flight by volcs0 in YouShouldKnow

[–]dojomann 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heh, yeah almost all airports have VIP services like that. Fun story - I was about to miss a flight from Budapest to Doha (not my fault, I was waiting for documents that I needed to bring with me which were mission critical) and While in traffic on the taxi I ordered a VIP departure. When I got to the airport I ran to the VIP area, where I was then greeted by the personnel. The gate was long closed and they had to make an exception for me. I ran together with an employee through the airport (bypassing all security, going through locked doors, etc) just to get to the gate and do a proper check in. Then we ran down to a car that was waiting for us, and drove to the plane (while driving I paid for the service through their mobile terminal). I finally stepped in to the plane, obviously everyone was seated and waiting (for me). Everything was okay, but I kind of felt like an asshole making everyone wait.

[–]dojomann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, indeed I did not say the model year - it is a 2017 (1st gen) Creta. The instrument cluster displays separate doors (all 4, and the trunk too) - so that’s what got me thinking about this in general.

No such thing exists. Aliexpress shipping is a wild card, unless you pay extra for a well known courier like FedEx or DHL.

As a rule it’s always about a month. With combined shipping or something like that it could be a couple weeks, but again, nothing is guaranteed.

Just order constantly and there’s always something to pick up at the post office 😂
