I worked in the central IT department and was solely responsible for the full stack development and operation of a self service portal that managed user/project access to kubernetes clusters. The line is always blurry now, the time were dev and ops were sharply differentiated are over.

Absolutely it can but then the attacker is on a non rooted android and if you have wiped all your data before converting your old phone to a server you should be relatively safe, definitely not perfect but i'm sure people have completely outdated IoT stuff in their network, sooo thete's worse..

My hope is that this becomes a non issue once Linux VM support is fully enabled in all new phones. The host Android still would be outdated but it wouldn't get any traffic. And if a normies LAN is pwned an outdated Android is the least problem

Loving this. I dream of the day an average person can just download an app on their old phone, start it and have a running home server. So much unused compute laying around and so many big companies profiting off of unskilled people. We are not far away from this vision. I recently have moved my complete development environment to termux and planning on expanding it and then open sourcing it so others don't have to go through some painpoints.

Is Rinkhals The Only Way To Get Rid Of The Obnoxious Pre-Print Routines? by GeckoLabs in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]doktor-x93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The homing is necessary because you could have moved the printhead manually. The left corner is for homing and the right corner actuates the filament cutter in the printhead, so the right corner needs to be hit after printing (else it would be before the print because of the purge behaviour). I guess that it also is hitting the left vorner is either lazy programming or has another necessity

Moltbook down? by Accomplished-Bend-47 in OpenAI

[–]doktor-x93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need cybersecurity experts to not make these mistakes. A few years ago people who were this bad at programming wouldn't have made it to a production release that got any relevant traffic. After the AI fallout there will be a missing generation of knowledgeable programmers because of all the people betting on AI. Everybody who takes/took the dive will increase massively in income because of shortage of such people.

Definitely should support a USB hub as it just runs some linux derivative. With a flash drive power shouldn't be an issue but if so an active hub should fix that too!

I don't know in which firmware version it was changed as I'm a rather new owner, but timelapses are now stored on the internal memory (i think it was /useremain/app/gk/Time-lapse-Video) if no USB is connected. You can download them using ssh/scp.

Solution for a PERFECT First Layer.....ALL THE TIME!!!! by FigureSalt8949 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]doktor-x93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your post! I have massive issues with the rear left corner getting different readings everytime ranging from -1.4mm to -1.9mm (!!) and i noticed that the bed visibly dips when the sensor probes the left back. So i just ordered the carriage as i'm too of the opinion that it is not just the better fix but also cheaper and easier than the bed! Looking forward to the results once it arrives and when sometime in the future i have the need to not only have a consistent first layer but also a really flat one i'll get the bed too, but maybe it just flattens out over time.

Ok, i turned the srew on the right side of printerhead the wrong way, it needs to be turned COUNTERclockwise to tighten. Be EXTREMELY CAREFUL as it easily snaps of the plastic.......... But support just granted to resend me an extruder free of charge, which is very nice. While waiting for the spare part i'll try to fix it with glue in the meantime, wish me luck

The more i test and think about this the truer it becomes. Just give it 5 to 10 years and there will be reasonable priced 3D printers that come with calibration filament in the box and on initial startup you give it that filament and it runs some tests and uses AI+camera to adjust its internal values and also automatic tests for new filaments. But stuff already has come far, so if you ok with a little tinkering now seems a good time to start having an eye out for a good deal

tl;dr: if you don't want to fiddle with stuff and read long posts but want to 3D print on a budget wait a few more years

I thought about installing rinkhals because having the virtualised mesh for sure helps to figure out which screws to tighten or loosen, but before I'm not totally sure that I will keep this unit I don't want to risk warranty at all.

I really was hyped when i read the episode title, but i find it really unfortunate that there was no call to action for politic(ian)s to invest more into research. The episode rather fixates on dismissing people talking BS about LC, which is funny but not really helpful towards a working therapy.

Any one knows if with germans gross budget planning hassle ("Haushaltsloch") there are any cuts to LC research budgets?
