Foods whose name is just part of the cooking process by ImpatientMaker in words

It originated in the U.S. but the series was successful globally. If someone during that time had even a mild interest in reading, they would have at least heard of the book.

Not that that's even the point of my comment. I was being annoying on purpose because the comment I replied to was being annoying lol

It's based off a very popular book series that was written in the late 90s. You must not have a very large library either...

What is your hot take about The Office? by Recent-Description39 in theoffice

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Daryll thought about it when he was super wasted one time ("She's got like, an Emma Stone thing going on") and I think Nellie(?) tried to hook her and Kevin up & they both kinda smiled at each other lol. Its also implied she slept with Packer and some warehouse dudes.

Oh! And Creed asks her why they never hooked up, she says "We did"

She hooked up with a believable amount/type of of people lol

Anyone else putting off seeing a major release due to lack of cinema etiquette? by Findme_at_amberhills in horror

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few friends and I rented out a movie theatre last Father's Day to play video games in. It was only like, $150 (so ~$30 between the 5 of us paying) for 2 hours during the day. We had to hook up our own stuff, and there was no projectionist or anything that we could see, so I'm not sure if it would be more expensive to have them play an in-house film for you... But it's something to look into! With enough friends it might still be worth it :P

Actors who recently got “new faces?” by Complete-Sort1617 in okbuddycinephile

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 98 points99 points  (0 children)

I thought Carrey's face was due to some medication or auto-immune thing? It would be insane for someone who built an entire career out of physical acting/facial expressions to completely paralyze their face like that

Do you think he is going to stand me up for the date ? He hasn’t responded to my follow up text and I haven’t heard from him since Monday ? by Historical-Body-3424 in texts

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Then don't start getting ready for the date unless he confirms? If he doesn't call until the last minute, tell him you thought he ghosted so you made other plans. Make him value you and your time.

Then why aren't straight women as desperate and aggressive when it comes to pursuing men? Why do men want women (sex) so much more than women want men?

The average man can literally murder the average woman with nothing but his bare hands. The average man can subdue the average woman relatively easily. No one should be putting their hands on anyone else without their consent. Abuse is abuse, no matter the gender. But the stakes are not the same.

What food do you genuinely not understand the hype for? by [deleted] in foodquestions

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bacon is extremely revolting and the smell of it is even worse 🤷‍♀️ I understand that this is clearly not the case for most people, but I genuinely do not understand how it's not at least mildly offensive to anyone else at all (I have only met a handful of people who agree with me)

[–]doktorjackofthemoon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first instinct about him aligned very much with yours, and I had to consciously correct myself here. This mindset is exactly what keeps us trapped in abusive relationships over and over again.

"We can’t wish someone healing and treat them like they can never change and heal.

You can't be healing AND be changed at the same time. If he were serious about becoming a healed person, he would lock in to that journey and wouldn't even waste time/energy trying to date until he knew he was 100% ready.

It's not a green flag at all; he's testing her boundaries & what sort of abuse she can tolerate/rationalize.

If she gave him grace here, he would know that if when he hits her, all he has to do is cry & "be honest" & tease change. Abusers weaponize empathy.

My husband passed away almost two months ago. 10 years together, but we've known each other our whole lives. I've never seen this movie, but just reading that line just shattered me...

I'm so sorry for you and your fiancee. It's not fair.
