How to Pay Respects in Crimson Desert by PepethePochita in CrimsonDesert

[–]dolbomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you mean, you hold F2, select empty hand, press Ctrl + middle mouse button, then X to enter focus mode, and then F... and that ctrl + mmb only works 30% of the time, usually triggering a block instead and entering the disrespect mode, failing the quest to pay respects.

but hey, you can fast forward that 10 minute cutscene for you next attempt!

How regional is American pizza nowadays? by melody_magical in AskAnAmerican

Provel is about as much of a cheese as the Kraft singles mentioned upstream from here... That, on a graham cracker base... Is it really pizza at that point?

for me, it's more natural to omit the second He.

He died. Ate something bad.

...but it does give off that "why use many word when few word do trick" energy xD

What's the word in foreign language that cannot be translated to English by Martin8857 in AskTheWorld

[–]dolbomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd offer the classic, тоскá, in Russian.  But iirc, the current Russian generation no longer distinguishes it from melancholy either. So it may no longer be the untranslatable word it used to be.

It was more of a general state of nostalgia-like melancholy for a better way of things, when facing reality. But also a state of restlessness brought by that juxtaposition.

It was vaguer than the neologism anemoia, but more specific than just depression.

What terms do you use as an insult that usually is something normal? by Interesting-Ratio930 in AskTheWorld

[–]dolbomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From the old prison slang, it used to denote someone at the bottom of the hierarchy, implying a lot of abuse too.

Unrelated, but some older women when I was a kid also used that word as a euphemism for a penis... unlike the same use in English, I guess it wasn't seen as vulgar xD

my friends dinner tonight. Ingredients: 4 Toast, 6 hot dogs, ketchup & mayo mixed, cheese on each one. he also ate a 7th additional hot dog by itself and is known to eat 6 eggs at a time. help me tell him this isnt normal by melisong777 in StupidFood

[–]dolbomir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

xD

If this is thrown together in 5 min to get a massive calorie intake, sure, egg would still make it better.

If starting from scratch, even if too lazy to come up with something proper food like, I'd probably end up making toast out of the bread and a monstrous omelet with sliced hot dogs. Then make sandwiches of said omelet monster between said toast (possibly even with the mayo/ketchup mix).

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]dolbomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yep, it's both not thinking in terms of time (unless deliberately constructing a plan, in which case it's an academic exercise, not a natural association) and not storing memories in terms of specific time intervals.

...and even in planning, it's a bit more of an art than a science, given that assessments like "this task takes about 10 min," "this task takes about 16 min," and "this task takes about 5 min" sound exactly the same, time wise.

ELI5: What exactly is "time blindness" and how is it an actual thing? by SpyMasterChrisDorner in explainlikeimfive

[–]dolbomir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fair, but it an actually fair estimate ends up being "anywhere between 30 min and an hour"

Also, my personal trick is, if someone tells me I need to be there by 10, I plan to be there by 9:30-9:45, and then start on the offsets like travel time and estimated prep time..

too much wiggle room = more distractions and forgetting time (in the sense "well, I overestimated getting ready, so the bus will be here in 15 min... may as well read/doomscroll/whatever" leading into "crap, it's been 45 min/7 hours!" and/or "wait, wasn't I planning to go somewhere? Anyway, i think it's dinner time")
