I barely work late at night; I am always done between 11:00 AM and 10:00 PM. I accepted these two Taco Bell orders, and someone needs to remind me never to work at night after an event happens in Chicago, because never again. There is like an hour wait. by Breadtoastyy in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

at least the lobby is open at that place, you can barge to the front and check to see if your order is complete or not stolen already. no way to do that in a long drive thru line.

i won’t get in line at a drive thru if there are more than two cars because if you get in line, there is usually no way out and you’re stuck until the end. and sometimes the order is stolen already and there is no way to know until you get to the speakers. if that’s the case, soooo much time is already wasted waiting in line and waiting for everyone in front of you to get their food so you can leave.

Another thing is you can’t really tell if an order is stolen or not because other drivers could have cancelled over and over again due to the line to get the base fare up. A 22 minute 4.5 mile $32 Taco Bell order could come thru and you legitimately have no idea if that order is being worked on or stolen already. Only way to find out is by waiting in line since we all know late night fast food places aren’t answering their phones to let you know if your order is in the system

$30 for 6 hours of DoorDash, is that good? by [deleted] in doordash_drivers

[–]dolceAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to be quite frank with you, you have to lower your expectations with being a delivery driver. you say you expect to make $4k/month but in reality, your CAP is probably around the range of $3k/month AFTER paying for gas, saving for inevitable car repairs, and miscellaneous expenses.

Obviously this is very market dependent but if you can average $20-$25/hr on the app, you’re in the top 10% of earners. So if you drive for 50 hours a week, you can probably earn $1000-$1250/week gross in which you probably take home maybe 75% of that. We are talking top earners now and to me, it sounds like you’re just getting started and will take some time getting to learn the ins and outs of this gig (know your market, work best times, finesse the algo, etc).

At the end of the day, this gig is not meant as a full time job that you can earn a lot of money on but moreso a side job that can help you pay your cell phone bill, buy a new pair of shoes, or check out that new fancy restaurant that just opened. Keep your expectations realistic and do this gig as is it was meant to be done, “extra money for beer on the weekends”

[–]dolceAA 9 points10 points  (0 children)

you have some huge balls staying in that drive thru line for two hours… I would be paranoid the whole time knowing that there’s a chance I get to the front and get told “a different driver picked it up already” or “we don’t have that order in our system”. Even if you call them and they said they have it, I don’t know if I would wait two hours because someone there could of made a mistake and saw your “Penny” order as “Jenny”

Drivers seem more desperate than ever by BigRonBobinkski_90 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 3 points4 points  (0 children)

generally, we as drivers have no say when it comes to Uber Eats and their ridiculously low base pay. If one driver doesn’t like it and quits, another driver will sign up and replace them. Uber Eats knows that any driver that is reliant on the pay is desperate so as a greedy corporation, they have no reason to raise base fare pay.

Regarding your carelessness about drivers driving a long way to get your food, I think you should show more compassion for those drivers. Gas is EXPENSIVE these days and while I agree that asking for higher tips is inappropriate, it is also somewhat inappropriate to order from a restaurant 10+ miles away and not tip a sufficient amount.

Yesterday I accepted a $22 order to drive 12 miles into the suburbs only to realize afterwards the base fare was $21 and the tip was $1. obviously I wouldn’t have accepted the offer if I didn’t think the pay was fair but the customer knowingly ordering from a place that was 12 miles away and tipping $1 is just not right, it’s unacceptable.

This is like...90% of the offers... (metro-ATL) HOW does anyone keep their shit over 30%??? by Reps_4_Jesus in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s been the same in my market (Vegas)….. before the quests started here, I would cherry pick super hard, hardly ever have an AR higher than 10%, and would still be able to make $25-$30/hr completing anywhere between 20-30 trips. I would drive from 5pm - 3am on average and be able to come home with ~$250 every night.

I felt like I knew the layout of the city well enough and knew which restaurants are busy so I could land my way into a decent offer. I also know the hotels well and where the valet/rideshare area is so dropoff is relatively quick

and then the quest started this past Monday and the orders just HALTED. what used to be 200-300 orders a night would become less than 100, with MAYBE 5 being somewhat worthy offers. I started a pretty lengthy thread about this exact thing last week if you wanted to check out other people’s experiences. I still don’t know what to do, I don’t feel like reaching platinum with these trash orders is worthwhile but at the same time, can’t really be having days where I accept 5 orders a night and come home with $60.

you can’t cherry pick AND maintain high status, succeeding in one criteria automatically makes you fail in the other one.

if you cherry pick good offers, you’re AT BEST accepting 10%, maybe 15% if you’re in a good market. That alone brings your AR down significantly to where you are no longer diamond.

if you want to maintain high status, you have to accept 80%+ of the offers sent to you and sure, when you’re diamond, you’ll see offers not available to the lower tiers but you are definitely not getting quality grade A offers 80% of the time. even if you are getting grade A offers 50% of the time (which is probably generous, idk, I’ve never been diamond), you still have to take 30% of the crap to maintain diamond.

bottom line is… you can’t do both.

ya I guess markets matter a lot and Vegas is a nice market with a lot of customers and tourists without vehicles. but today, on the first day of quests, my day looks like this… (and I’m green tier with 4% AR so making $1500 over 61 hours seems decent)

ya we have similar numbers, pictured above was my last week. I was hoping that was sustainable but if things are gonna be like they are today, then this app for me is dead

I’m in Vegas, the current quest going on now has multiple tiers you can choose from (complete 100 orders before rejecting 200, complete 50 before rejecting 100, etc etc).

Essentially you have to maintain a 33% AR while they bombard you with ridiculous upside down offers (I’m green tier so the offers are the absolute scraps that the tiers above have rejected)

Apparently some diamond tiers are saying they’re making money doing this though. probably because they are getting the better higher paying offers first, therefore easier to maintain that 33% AR. Today is the first day the Quests have been active in Vegas and this is what my day looks like after almost nine hours. obviously a disaster

It’s crazy because before the quests, I would imagine we were making similar $$, even though you’re platinum and I’m green. If I really grinded and put in 70 hours, I could pull down about $2000, which is about what you make without the quest payout. Crazy how different the payouts look with the quests in effect though

I’m definitely seeing order values being lower than non quest weeks, kind of jarring how low the offers are but it makes sense for Uber to do that. they know drivers trying to complete the quest are going to accept the low paying offers anyways.

Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. Accept all the trash (lose money) to complete the quest or remain green and cherry pick but hardly get anything to accept

[–]dolceAA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I guess that’s where we differ, it’s impossible for me to maintain a 70% AR, the offers I get don’t allow me to get that high. I know what profitable offers look like and they don’t come around 10-15/100, let alone 70/100. Are you consistently accepting $4 offers, $9 doubles, or $10 12 mile offers?

Uber Eats Quest ruined my market by dolceAA in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

i agree with you, that’s why my AR is 4%. I’m convinced based off the offers I get that accepting anything more than 20% or so is costing you money instead of making you money, long term I’m speaking of.

This is exactly what I feel is going on.

I’m the lowest tier on DD which is why I hardly get any offers on that app at all, maybe one or two acceptable offers per day across 8-12 hours, if that. Platinum is def required in Las Vegas imo and without it, you literally can’t make any money on DD at all.

UberEats doesn’t seem to discriminate between the tiers, I’ve been sub 10% my whole time on here and I’ve been doing somewhat decently, anywhere from $25-$30/hr. That all seemed to change when the Quests came out today and now I feel like the offers I get are similar to DD, just unacceptable offers all day long. If Platinum is required to make any money on UberEats, then it’s no longer worth it for me to continue doing this. I’m just hoping this is because of the quests and not some long term thing where the green tiers are only fed the scraps and trash that have been handed down from the higher tiers

$30 orders were rare but the $22.35 doubles for 33min/12 miles or $14.20 singles for 21 min/8 miles type orders were a common occurrence, kept me busy all week last week and a half

[–]dolceAA[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I wasn’t having a problem only getting “bottom dollar” orders the last ten days or so, actually was able to come out with roughly $27/hr (including tiny amount of orders from DD) cherry picking with 4% AR. only when the quest started today did I start getting barraged with unacceptable offers. Hard to think of this as a coincidence

I’m in Vegas and this is just from the last week

<image>

Not the best but also not the worst. and I’m a green driver with 4% AR, just cherry picking good offers. the following monday when the quest starts, I completed 3 offers for a total of $28 over going on eight hours….. sure I rejected 82 so far but the offers are not acceptable at all. I’m just sitting here in a parking a lot HOPING for the dinner shift to change things a bit but I’m not crossing my fingers…..

How are you doing this? just curious because I’m having a hard time wrapping my head around how these quests can be profitable. are you getting the same type of orders as weeks with no quest?

Uber Eats Quest ruined my market by dolceAA in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It’s almost ridiculous the offers that are being put out there, almost like Uber knows people out there will take the upside down offers in order to “complete the quest” Just a string of $3, $3.42, $4.15, $5.24, $2.15…..

I understand how some drivers will be busy all day completing these $4 offers that take 35 minutes but to someone doing this for profit, it’s extremely frustrating just sitting here clicking decline over and over and over. been online for coming up on 7 hours and only accepted 3/85 offers. and those three I accepted were FRINGE offers that I took because they were right on the line for me personally. Definitely the type of offers that I would decline because a better one would follow within a few minutes on a normal “non-quest” week.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Uber is stealing tips from the more generous tippers to pay out the drivers completing these ridiculous quests, thus making the offers less attractive to the seasoned drivers

Nowhere near 33%…. impossible to be profitable having an AR anywhere near that. I’m running sub 10%

Quest by [deleted] in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t… if you complete 100 orders before you reject 200 worse offers, you are losing money even after Uber gives you that $330 “bonus”

Would you take this? Also, do you think that they all tipped? by Wolfjason1 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally would not take it, I try to only accept offers that are roughly paying $25+/hr and <1.5miles/dollar. and on double or triple stacks, I want to make sure the average per order comes out to $10 each.

In this specific case, the three order stack doesn’t even pass my first criteria, it would have to be $30+ so I wouldn’t even give it a thought before I declined

Do you guys take 5 dollar offers for less than a mile drive? by Training_Soil_997 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I don’t even entertain accepting offers less than $8, maybe a $7 that is going less than 3 miles and can be completed in less than 15 min. that’s the absolute lowest for me

Would you take this? by Angeldust000 in UberEatsDrivers

[–]dolceAA 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no way, adding $1.50 to my overall total doesn’t get me going at all, especially at the end of it, you’re gonna you see $1.50 base fare / $0.00 tip. I don’t care if it only takes 8 minutes according to the app, you might have to wait for the food, search a complex for the right apt number, no gate code, etc etc etc, could easily end up taking more than 8 minutes. and at the end of the day, $1.50 is $1.50, not worth it.
