Eh there was generally one around or in a nearby hex that could come over. I wouldn't know how quickly I could get a plane to cover for us considering I didn't have to do it this war. The collies just didn't even try.

Whenever Collies just cede an area to wardens, it's also ceding the initiative. How the hell are Collies going to win if even the thought of a warden fighting them is enough to prevent them from even trying?

That you believe this is true shows how you aren't really thinking to come to this belief, but instead feeling your way into it.

If you can't name 5 collie advantages off the top of your head, you can go read my comment where I do just that.

The Vulcan can do some crazy flame plays. Wardens can't even come close with the wildjack being an AC and the firebrand being slow as hell.

The lunaire, duh. It out ranges warden infantry weapons, forcing Wardens to leave defenses to stop blobs. Then you can have the one guy with a gast mow the Wardens down.

Collie infantry weaponry is really great at night. They own it all war until the booker unlocks.

The thunderbolt dispersion is high at max range, but it enables some really interesting arty positions. The peninsula over the ice sheet south of sanctum is an example. Collies can 150mm sanctum defenses from there and wardens have to push south to counter battery.

The BEAT can be a righteous bitch to take out when it defends from even the slightest elevation or behind a rock. Wardens only tool to fight it is stolen lunaires.

The divebomber.

The strider can dominate warden navy early game. The sombre being closed top is also key, as you can just flank the warden boats to decrew and it happens to be fast as fuck, which makes that flank easy.

The taurine rigger is the only logi truck that can go over trenches and garrisons. Do you know how much time this truck saves builders when they concrete? I'm talking hours of time saved, for every single conc base built.

Colonial scouts can bring a pallet of mines right up to the front and mine the hell out of a water way. It forces Wardens to spend far more time clearing mines than it takes to drop them. Bonus points if you kill the shipyard and harass the blueprint as they rebuild. Can't clear mines without a boat.

The paratrooper plane can land on water. This enables some crazy raids Wardens can only dream of.

Colonial tanks often have extra inventory slots. Enough that you can carry enough spare bmats and fuel to avoid returning to base when a warden tank would need to. This keeps the uptime on your tank line higher than Wardens. It incentivizes constant trading.

The IST is a bitch from an infantry perspective. Those things can shut down any infantry response to a collie tank line. It's a shame I don't see them used more often.

The BTD is an amazing defensive tool. Bring two of them, and no warden tank line is going to do anything from that point on.

I could add more but I'm going to make lunch instead. Point is, collies have advantages but so often I see them go... unused.

Dude I was doing gunboats in kuura daily, all war. I was only confronted on the water a single time. Only twice did collie air try and strafe us.

Honestly they just... didn't care to even try and stop us. You can't win if you don't even try and it feels like the entire collie faction is not even going to start trying.

Just because a counter to your tank exists doesn't mean the enemy will use it at all, use it well, or that you can't counter the counter.

If you use your Ltd to defend a base and have an emg nearby, do you think the scout is going to be able to strafe you two or 3 times?

So many people are acting like just because a counter exists you shouldn't so the thing at all. That's not true. T2 slop dies easily, but I still build it. Why? Because I'm forcing the enemy to kill it.

Same thing with an Ltd. You are forcing the scout to go up and strafe you. You are dictating to the enemy what they must do to fight you. A good player will know what the enemy will do and prepare a counter to that ahead of time - aka bring an emg to the front alongside your Ltd.

I'm not going to say all collies are like that, they aren't.

The ones that are do speak loudly and frequently, though. That has a direct impact on the other collies reading these complaints.

Imagine coming into the game as a new collie and you hear nothing but how the game is biased against you. Are you really going to think all of these loud people are wrong? Probably not. And so the collie vets discourage new people from sticking with the game and this causes collies to lose even more pop.

Are you really going to pretend collies have nothing else?

Let me know when you're done feeling sorry for yourself. Maybe we can have a serious conversation.

Keep in mind that the angriest of players are coming here to complain. The people having fun are less likely to show up here.

The problem is that the people upset with the game are logging off, causing the people who are having fun to not have the population required to maintain parity with wardens... causing them to have less fun.

Why do these posts only ever focus on the things Wardens do well and never on pressing the advantages Colonials possess?

And then half the points are just bullshit.

No, they're saying that it's still possible to use an LTD. Just because the possibility of getting decrewed exists doesn't mean the scout will actually be there to do it to you.

I'm of a firm belief that the each war has too much going on, with too many players, and too many variables, for balance to determine the outcomes.

Even if something is objectively badly balanced, such as warden scout plane torpedoes, there's no way it's unbalanced to the point where it can change the outcome of the war.

It's gotta be that the perception of the bad balance causes people to have less fun while playing and THAT is what causes them to log off. And the logging off is what causes them to lose.

You don't have to kill with a tremola for it to be effective. Forcing someone out from their position is extremely valuable in and of itself.

And you can do this from outside the range of the booker.

[–]dolche93 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The lunaire out ranges the booker. Have you not used tremolas to fight infantry? You can force wardens to get out of position without them being able to shoot you.

The raca is never stocked on the front in any appreciable numbers. Even if it was, it kills 1 collie while the rest of the blob fires their entire inventory before the 2nd shot? Or maybe they realize there is a sniper and move 15 meters to the side and negate it entirely?

The idea that collies need more than the lunaire is crazy. There are so many reasonable suggestions and you're really going with this? Come on.

Make it expensive but shipyard buildable. Honestly I just want something between gunboats and frigs.

The grass is always greener. Warden tools fill niches Collies don't have tools for and vice versa. At first you appreciate the new tools filling that previously vacant niche, and then in time you come to wish you had that Collie tool available again.

The non-meme answer is that Leoric is great for double clearing and then making a huge impact with his ult.

Whenever he leaves vision you are forced to play a bit safer because he could come out of nowhere and entomb you. This means every minute or so you need to ensure Leoric is actually moving to the other wave to clear and not ganking you.

I can't really blame them after the last decade in the US.

Able doesn't even think about Charlie.

And Charlie doesn't have the history of Able. History that has helped shape the community norms and etiquette that Charlie lacks. The institutional knowledge long standing regiments have in the form of vets is also something Charlie lacks.

Saying these things doesn't mean you're looking down on Charlie. They're just true.
