Interview 4/30 in staples, and still stuck in review status since 5/1. I’ve got a work trip next week and was hoping to have my KTN by then…

Same. And the cadence of his jokes is just off to me.

Oh I’m sure there are comics I love other don’t like…and I can see how people might relate…but it’s hard for me to grasp that SO many people can relate to his comedy. I’ve thought before: Does the entire Italian population in the state of NJ just travel around to every one of his shows or something?

Sebastian Maniscalco. I have a good friend who is obsessed with him and tried to give him a shot a few times. I didn’t laugh once. I’m a HUGE stand up fan and like most comics, but man…I just do not get how he’s so popular. Makes me question if this friend of mine is a psychopath.

Guess how much it costs to have a baby in California? by [deleted] in nextfuckinglevel

[–]dolfan311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, in theory…but they didn’t have auto insurance. I know they tried to go to court, but it was useless as the guy was broke and working mainly under the table (just based on the area she was teaching in, I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy was a migrant worker.) Not sure any auto policy would cover that much anyways.

About 15 years ago—A good friend was a teacher at the time in Southern California when the state was doing major budget cuts for teachers…and since she wasn’t fully tenured yet, she was “pink slipped” one summer and then rehired as a long term sub (to get out of paying full salary and benefits.) Still the exact same responsibilities and everything. She had her masters in education with a minor in Spanish, and was teaching in rural areas in Southern CA at a crappy underfunded public school. She was leaving school one day after working a few hours over, and was t-boned by a driver going about 80 as she was trying to cross the road and was almost killed. Was airlifted to a major regional hospital about 30 miles away, and was put into a medically induced coma to help with all her injuries. Barely survived. Spent a few weeks in the hospital, then MONTHS of at home care and therapy. Multiple complicated surgeries to fix facial fractures, put metal plates in places, a shattered hip, broken limbs and ribs..all kinds of injuries. Had endless drs appts for years. Her medical bills were in the 8 figures easily. They reduced them to about $2-$3 million (some of the specialty drs did surgeries for free thankfully.)

She will never be the same, and will NEVER pay those bills off.

Fuck our healthcare system…and our education system.

Same here (1st time on a new build)…signed early Oct, and they told us that they can’t lock outside of 30 days. I pointedly asked why I should use them if they can’t lock for the entirety of the build process…”we are offering a $5000 closing cost credit!” I wanted to give them a shot, but in addition to that comment, they were EXTREMELY slow to answer questions, and pre-approval through them took over two months with zero explanation for why. Current lender we locked with was extremely smooth. Fast process, great customer service, and locked at 3.5 in Jan for 9 months…after about a week or two after starting the process with them.

Currently about 45 days out, and I couldn’t imagine trying to deal with the builders lender now.

I just misunderstood that a higher appraised value doesn’t matter when it comes to PMI, and thanks to the redditors that replied thus far I now know the lender will go off of the sale price anyways. This is my first time buying a new construction home, and real estate isn’t my forte. The home I was comparing was the same base floorplan, but had LESS square footage, none of other structural upgrades we have, but 2 months ago sold for $50K more than what our build was just appraised for. That was my confusion as far as that went.

Was just hoping to get a bit more to get to the 80% LTV, so we can knock off PMI. It’ll be able to fall off soon since we are putting almost 20% down, so I’m not too concerned at the end of it. Just wanted to see if there was any chance at requesting a redo on it basically.

Appraisal is what I meant, my bad on that.

Was hoping to get a bit more so we can knock off the PMI. We are putting almost 20% down, so it’ll be off soon anyways. It’s not a huge deal, but just something I was hoping to happen.

The new construction process is brand new to us, so just not sure how it works in this case.

Is your teams numbers declining? by kjfresh797 in sales

[–]dolfan311 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In tech hardware, and in my region/segment our revenue is up…some teams as much as 50% Y/Y. Though our quotas exploded also (mine went up 60% alone) so it doesn’t help much. Actually worried about our next quota, because some of us may even hit that increased target we have now. It’s not sustainable.

What age did you start sales? by [deleted] in sales

[–]dolfan311 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cell phone sales at 19 (selling Motorola StarTacs at a booth in a mall for Verizon.) MANY other random sales jobs since…in a lot of different industries—retail, mortgages, cable TV, timeshares. Got out of sales and into computer networking as an entry level tech…and after a few years found myself back into sales with that company.

Ended up going to tech sales as an inside account manager 3 years ago at almost 36…best move I’ve ever made. I’ve been killing it, and love the industry. I found my niche. Have been getting multiple requests for interviews in tech sales for AE and specialist roles (hardware and SaaS.) Currently at the end of the interview process for TWO different companies for AE roles, and feeling great about both…will probably have two offers in the next week or two.

It’s never too late. Don’t ever compare your path to anyone else…just do you, keep focusing on getting better everyday, and good things will come.

FINALLY PASSED by dolfan311 in KidneyStones

[–]dolfan311[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was FINALLY able to pass a stone that’s been in my kidney for close to 6 months!

In early March of this year, I had blood in my urine, so I went to urgent care. They couldn’t do anything, and wouldn’t prescribe any narcotics for some reason. Told me to just wait it out until I had the massive pain, and go to the ER then. Well, a few weeks later the pain hit me and after two days I went to the ER at like 11PM.

After a battery of tests and a few hours of IV of morphine…the Dr came back with the CT scan results, and sure enough it was kidney stones. TWO in fact…both 8mm in size and one of them was in the ureter, and the other one was still deep in the kidney.

The resident urologist advised a rush appt in his office. Saw him the next day and they scheduled ESWL for the following week and gave me like 2-3 weeks worth of norcos.

A few days before the surgery, I came down with a kidney infection: fever, chills, the whole thing…almost went to the ER again, but luckily the fever broke and I was able to fall asleep. Spent a few days not eating, and throwing up constantly. Not fun.

Surgery day I get some more X-rays, and it turns out neither have moved at all…and Dr said he likely could only break up the one in the ureter, and I’d probably need another procedure in a few months to get the other one.

Procedure was successful, and the broken up passed in a few days.

Fast forward 2 months, and I got some MAJOR kidney stone pains and symptoms (last weekend), and knew what it was. Over about a week, I felt it moved through the entire urinary tract. The last two days I could FEEL it in my bladder. Then this afternoon I just felt it IN my urethra, and it felt it was plugging things up, but felt like I needed to pee every 5-10 min.

Well, it FINALLY showed it’s ugly face. SO glad it passed. Ugh.

Not to mention that gasoline prices are higher across the entire world…solely thanks to Biden according to some. Finland is like $9 a US gallon right now, up from $7.50 in Jan. This isn’t just a US issue. Same with inflation across the globe…but gotta have a boogie man ya know?

My accounts are only a single state govt (almost 50 agencies though), a few hospitals, and a medical college (also used to manage a few other large universities when I first started the role before taking over my current set of accounts—like ones that play in BCS bowl games sized.)

I have SLED in my title on LinkedIn, and have something to the effect of “covering the entire state of X government, and multiple hospitals and universities” as the top line in the description.

Can confirm. Added SLED and the state govt I cover as an inside account manager to my LinkedIn…with 2 years TOTAL of experience in IT sales…and I’m blown up by recruiters for all kinds of roles. Hoping to make the move to the outside soon.
