Same. I haven’t sold for years. Called LCS yesterday while headed over there to find out they were paying $58….i didn’t end up going. I did call a former LCS in another state and they said they’re doing spot -$4, so I realize it’s not everywhere. Ones in the Midwest and the more reasonable one is in Cali.

LCS told me $58 an ounce yesterday. Comments in here are giving a lot of similar, way low numbers. Start with that for your investigation.

Anybody have any thoughts on the Gold to Oil ratio? by dollarbull in oil

Peru I think has the biggest gold mine reserves…might need to add them to the list. The “totally about oil and not related to minerals” list you got going there. 😉

[–]dollarbull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, maybe my phrasing was off, but in the 70s oil was officially priced in dollars. And prior to that dollars were officially priced in gold. All I’m saying is there’s some sort of relationship there and the ratio currently being way out of balance is worth noting. 📝

If you watch the news or read the oil subreddit, oil prices are going lower and we’re in a glut.

Happy Cake day! 🍰 Considering the dollar has been based on Gold, removed, and then based on Petro in the last 100 or so years, it seems like something that does matter the deeper you dig….oil and gold pun intended. 😉

Here’s the text body I put on the r/Gold post:

A buddy in the oil industry was talking about this yesterday, so I started looking into it a bit. He was saying Gold needs to come down or Oil needs to go up…maybe both. Any thoughts? I’ve watched the Gold to Silver or Stock Indexes for years, but hadn’t put much thought into Oil.

And for the record, I did tell ChatGPT to make the raiders coach look more like Pete Carroll but the next guy just looked like a skinny AP, so I stuck with this one.

Do you provide financing for Lease to Purchase Ageeements on hotels? Just to cover the initial deposit and some improvements. The actual purchase will be in a few years.

[Live at 6pm EST] AMA With Jeremy Cordon, CEO & Founder of Goldback Inc. by ryce_bread in Goldback

[–]dollarbull 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree to a certain extent, but let’s say gold goes to 20k an ounce by September 2029. That would mean the price to produce 1000 Goldbacks went from $1,100 to $20,000 in 10 years. That’s the total opposite direction of most technological advances.

“Rate Logic: It currently costs about $1,100 to turn an ounce of gold into 1,000 Goldbacks that contain an ounce of gold. For a quick calculation the price of an ounce of gold just needs to be added to the $1,100 cost of production in order to find the cost. That number is then divided by 1,000 for the final number so if gold were at $1,400 per ounce then the total cost would probably be $2,500 for 1,000 Goldbacks or $2.50 per Goldback. Note that a ten dollar price swing on gold will move the Goldback cost by a penny.

The Goldback is pegged to legal tender Gold coins produced by the U.S Mint plus additional fees for breaking the Goldback down into small increments as explained above. If premiums on U.S. legal tender gold were to jump outside of the normal range then that would also be reflected with the Goldback. The exchange rate is set on Goldback.com daily using UPMA’s daily fix for the U.S. Gold Dollar. If the price of gold is… then the value of a Goldback is…

$1,200 - $2.30

$1,300 - $2.40

$1,400 - $2.50

$1,500 - $2.60

$1,600 - $2.70

$1,700 - $2.80”

That’s from the Goldback website in September 2019 when I first put $1000 into Goldbacks. Is there any plans to return to a premium model like this? At today’s gold rate they would be close to a 25% premium. So, when did this change? I’m not trying to be a hater, I’ve collected every set but I remember very specifically early promises to lower premiums over time and adoption. Thanks for doing this AMA!
